Penny: Hands I Passed Through…Things I Saw…Stories I Can Tell!  by Peter Davidson
After reading the summary of the book I wanted to search through my coins and see if I had a special penny of the same year.
LOVED this story and will recommend to my book clubs, such a fun read. Love all the facts and travel and especially diverse groups of people that interact with the coin.
Have been or read about some places just in the past week, so fascinating.
Never in a million years did I see the penny as being front and center of the real facts of the murder. WOW  very relaxing even though parts of it were political.
Can’t wait to read more of this wuthors works,
I received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

SEEDLING HOMESTEAD SERIES BY HILIARY DARTT

BOOKS IN THE SERIES:

SYNOPSIS:

Previously published as The Composition of Order by Hilary Dartt.

When a perfectionist mother loses touch with her true self, can she reclaim spontaneity and breathe life into her marriage?

If she could, Sarah Ward would plan her own surprise party. Determined to provide her daughter an impeccable home and a leg up on success, she leaves nothing to chance… even impromptu fun time. As the devoted mom prepares to send her child off to college, she has the startling realization she's completely lost touch with her husband.

Desperate to reignite their spark, Sarah organizes one last family road trip - a summer of wonder. And when a stop at a farmer’s market unearths an old journal overflowing with romantic reflections, she’s inspired to recapture the magic.

Will Sarah forge a path back to her carefree youth and win over the heart of her soulmate?

A Summer of Wonder is the transformative first book in The Seedling Homestead women’s fiction series. If you like relatable heroines, searches for identity, and emotional journeys with a splash of humor, you’ll adore Hilary Dartt’s vacation of a lifetime.

MY REVIEW:

A Summer of Wonder by Hilary Dartt
Great story, feel as if I got two stories for the price of one.
The diary involves a lot of past history and thoughts on many subjects.
Other part of the story is the real life, present time where the daughter is heading off to college soon.
Father of daughter wants a divorce as he's lost his love for his wife. Mother just goes about her business, keeping lists and things to do.
Love the road trip and they end up at Mama Katherine's where they learn so many past secrets that explain a lot of things...
Sisters nudge Sara into fighting for him in their own ways.
Can't wait to read more from this author as she digs into deep thoughts about subjects that matter to me.
Like that different generations are in this book, series each with their own problems in today's world.
Devastating news from Mama Katherine, hits me hard as she has what I have.
Very descriptive and there are not only fun times but sad ones also, passion, adventure, travel and charity work and getting out of their comfort zones.
Excerpt from next book is included at the end. About the author is also included.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

SYNOPSIS:

Architect Margaret Bradley is a rising star, renowned for her vision. In keeping with the promise she made to herself when her first mother died, she's fiercely self-reliant, traveling the country solo, enjoying her professional success.

Then she finds out she's going blind.

It's an unimaginable situation. Independence, the one thing for which she's always striven, seems impossible.

Worse, Margaret's adoptive mother, Mama Katherine, is sick. Margaret returns to her childhood home to help care for her … and to seek refuge as she grieves the loss of her sight.

Margaret is determined to prove—to her sisters, Sarah and Hannah, her mother, and herself—that she can remain self-sufficient. Then she meets Ethan, whose thoughtful gestures and provocative voice make Margaret think relying on someone else might not be so bad after all.

While one part of Margaret begins to accept this new life, another part of her—one born when she was just a little girl—fights against it. As those two sides struggle for control, Margaret must weigh losing her vision against gaining something much more significant.

If you enjoy heartwarming stories about resilience and the healing power of family, order your copy of
A Dream of Home today.

MY REVIEW:

A Dream of Home by Hilary Dartt
This story starts out with Margaret and her life as a designer of buildings and her recent vision loss.
She gets enough opinions from the doctors but is still having a hard time understanding how her life with go on.
On her trip to the Grand Canyon with the others she thinks there is hope.... she take it upon herself to take a trip by herself to a new location and has a great time with her dog, Duke.
Outcome does not go well and she turns to Ethan to help her out.  Love hearing of her past life and how she came to Mama Katherine’s' house.
Such troubled starts the girls have had til they reach the Seedling Homestead. Bonus material as more of journey is read...
This is a special read for me because I also have RP, no seeing eye dog and other eye issues and every day is a struggle. So glad I can listen to books.
Love advice given in the book as to how to just get  your job done, just in a different manner. Love what Ethan can do for her.
Romance, travel, vision tips, family, making things work and love.
Excerpt from the third book is enclosed at the end along with about the author.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

SYNOPSIS:

Previously published as The Structure of Perfection by Hilary Dartt.

A compelling story about the choices we make … and the healing power of family.

Hannah Bradley knows she's lucky: she's always lived an almost-magical existence.

In fact, when her younger sisters started new lives—Sarah as the consummate wife and mother and Margaret as an independent, jet-setting engineer—Hannah chose to remain home with Mama Katherine and become a teacher at the local elementary school.

Everything was perfect—until Mama dropped a bombshell that revealed their life was built on a foundation of secrets and deception.

As Hannah struggles to unravel the truth about her own past, she finds herself inexplicably compelled to help a new student, Sadie, whose behavior (in turns surly and charming) suggests she’s had anything but a perfect life—and that she truly needs Hannah.

Making life even more complicated, the family hires Hannah's college nemesis, Tanner Lucas, to build two new houses on the property. Despite their somewhat contentious past, he’s now oddly charming—especially in the way he interacts with Sadie.

Hannah’s connections with both Sadie and Tanner deepen, and she begins to see possibilities she’d only imagined … to want things she’d always told herself she didn’t need. But juxtaposed against that potential are the consequences of choices made long ago.

Now, at last, Hannah must define for herself what perfection really means.

If you love stories about family, love, loss, and redemption, you'll love A Promise of Forever. Order your copy now.

MY REVIEW:

A Promise of Forever (The Seedling Homestead Series Book 3) Kindle Edition by Hilary Dartt
This story focuses on Hannah, the child of Mama Katherine. It also has scenes with the other sisters so you get to catch up on what's going on in all their life.
We hear stories from Mama about Philip and her past life and good tmes they shared.  Hannah is a teacher and she feels for a child that is living with relatives but they are not taking care of her properly.
She's had her come over for dinner then even to sleep over and her and Tanner who she's grown to like take her out for Halloween night.
She and her sisters get on the net and investigate about her father. she's busy with chores and schoolwork so Tanner takes her to the city for a long weekend.
Love the people at the orchard and some bitter and sad tears but also tears of joy.
When they return home she is bombarded with decisions to make as her father had given her some good advice. she needs to move on it...
Never saw the ending as it was written but love it, all wrapped up.
Hope there is another story just about mama Katherine and her prior life. I think she deserves a story of her own as we caught glimpses of it in the three stories of the girls.
Travel, love, calm, peace, sadness and so much more in this one.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Upon Your Return, book one of the Heiresses in Love Series by  Marie Lavender
1853 Fara and her story of how her parents met and she doesn't want to leave home..
She is a young girl and is being sent to her uncle Michel and has heard things that make her think things will be grim.
She returns after being educated and he has business dealings that don't end well. She is then sent to live with an aunt Lina in France.
Love all the travel and to find more on the seas is even refreshing to me. Captain Grant rescues her many times over when she's betrayed from a fiancée. Grant and his first mate track down who hired the mobsters and deal with them.
Adult situations, tender loving and caring. He has to flee  the country and others take her to be tortured into the information they think she has. Aunt Lina arrives just in time to rescue her and take her back to her house.
She spends a lot of time with her, educating her about the ways of the world and society.  She learns of Grant's medical problem and hurries to help nurse him back to health.
As time goes on he does return after he is no longer in exile to find her. Surprises that await him after several years and she has explaining to do. Love how strong she is and will stand up to her pursuers and captives with no regard to danger she is really in.
Love hearing of the dances and other society events.
Really enjoyed this and didn't realize there is a maritime Victorian genre. Can't wait to read more from this author.
Included at the end is about the author and her works with synopsizes.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

The Crayon Man: the True Story of the Invention of Crayola Crayons by Natascha Biebow
Enjoyed this read about how crayons came to be. I do remember the thick ones we used, trying to hold them in our tiny hands and actually using them.
I have two sets of 8 colors only in my arsenal for when I am designing some colorwork for knitting items. Get out my graph paper with the grid lines and magic happens.
Such a fascinating read.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Once Upon a Time in Deadwood by V.J. Lee and others..
Many stories in this book about Deadwood through the years.
...

Penny From Deadwood by Debra Parmley and Robert Arrow
1877 Winnie is left behind after she buried her father, paid hotel bill and gave money to her uncle who told her that her father owed me gambling money.
She's got nothing but clothes in her bag. She even lost her special penny from her father....
Story also follows Zach and he's traveled from the future back to the past where he's the deputy and meets Winnie as he removes spoons from a man who stole them from the brothel.
Winnie and Zach get to spend time together and they have mutual things in common.
It was her birthday and she'd be 18.  He had brought her gifts. Adult situations but not in explicit details.
Zach had given her instructions in how to use the gun and she needs it one day...
Surprises and twists the turns and you never know who will show up...
Love the gun lessons, very informative.  Amazing outcome, never saw it coming down...

Whiteout (Shades #1) by Mary Mandolin
This story starts out with Melinda and the plane has just touched down at the airport. She calls for a Kkar ride and the driver picks her up and they are on their way.
Problem is Gerald was to pick up Melissa to meet up with Paul.  Things go so wrong as they are driving and she's locked in, winter blizzard and they arrive at a cabin.
All she can think about is being killed by the psycho.  Chilling read for me as it's realistic enough to happen.
How much worse can the tension get with a gun in the mix and no electric either.
Story is chilling at times but on the edge other times till twists and turns really make a difference...
Love her career and the creativity.
I received this review copy from AIA Publishing and this is my honest opinion.

Beyond Stitch And Bitch: Reflections On Knitting And Life

by Afi-Odelia Scruggs

What I love about this book is the patterns and the ease of them but complicated also.

Story follows a girl when she first starts to learn how to knit, puts it down then sparks her interest again and it mentions a shop in Providence, RI,

one I've not visited myself that gets her creative juices flowing again. Love hearing about the color sequences and how her hands tell her what it is she's making as she starts knitting.

Love the story of the woman from Africa coming and connecting with her.

 Fun read. Comradery is awesome.

I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
