RIDE TO RESTORATION by DJ Wilson

if you would like a free ebook (book 1, 2 or both)  in exchange for writing and posting a book review let me know.

Book Synopsis:

In this second book, D learns that paying it forward is not without costs, toss in Candi Parker, the girl of D’s dreams gone rogue, along with vivacious Victoria Lawson, attorney at law, who willingly steps in to fill Candi’s thong, and D’s hilarious misadventures continue across Canada. Reality sets in and the bullets begin to fly just two days after he returns to the states.

D sends Victoria away to keep her out of harm’s way, before tackling his real life demons, aka A.J. Standford, the Ponzi scheming banker who has a bounty on D’s head, and Candi’s extended family, the Gambinos, who will profit from his demise.

The romantic side of the story poses multiple questions: Will D settle for Victoria after being royally screwed by Candi or will his feelings for Candi propel him back into her life and the crime family’s ongoing chaos? Will Candi take back her sleazy ex-husband Joseph or will she somehow manage to break with her powerful family and come crawling back to D’s loving arms?

With all of this going on, there’s bound to be hell to pay sooner rather than later. Like momma always said, “When you play with fire, you’re gonna get burned.”

AUTHOR BIO

Raised in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee, I graduated from Cumberland University, located in a small town you've never heard just inside Kentucky quite a few years ago.

At present, we're writing and discovering all that makes our country great; it's people, along with their kindness and generosity.

In the last 15 months we have written and published Ride To Redemption and the sequel, Ride To Restoration, publishing late July. Writing has been healing as I remake me into what I want to be when I grow up.

As a published author and blogger, featured on many sites, including the Huffington Post, I have been humbled beyond measure, more times than not, by all that life has thrown our way.

My Review:

Ride to Restoration
This book picks up where Ride to Redemption left off but if you've not read that one this story can give you glimpses of what happened prior. Reading the first book will tell the whole story.
After reading the first book I became mesmerized. I finally figured out why. Just the way the story is told, some narrative, some subconscious thoughts really give you a feel for the characters.
This author reminds me SO much of Nelson DeMille and how his stories are told and evolve. Love the little remarks about 'points' just as DeMille in his books.
This book starts out in Canada and Vic and D are regroupoing after Candi has left. Alternating chapters where Candi is in FL with her family and what's going on in her life while we are along for another ride with Vic and D.
Love all the nature, travel, romance, scenery as it's displayed in front of us, as if we can see it for ourselves. Love scenes and fun bantering throughout. All the new things on this extension of the journey, some new words for me to look up-love learning new words.
All the instances of paying it forward continue in this book.
I like series books but I need to read new things and this one delivers that and more. A different side to the main characters and you learn new things about them, their past, and their future.
Some series books I've read try to play catch up with the first book but they repeat enough of the backstory so that it takes up 3/4 of the new book. This book is not like that. it's all new material with just glimpses of the past so you are not left out in the dark.
Can't wait for the next one in this series.

Beach Bags and Burglaries by Dorothy Howell
Although this book is a series book this is the first I've read of the author.
Didn't feel so much in the dark but there are a lot of characters from past cases that have popped up as the investigations go on.
Four women take a vacation at a resort and find not only one hostess has been murdered but one of their friends is getting married -they were not invited.
But now that the family's relatives won't come to the resort island the friends are now the brides best friends. Also one of the girls lucky underwear is stolen.
Lots of drama from a lot of different people made this a funny book for me to read while they go through the clues. Loves the Sea Vixen bag although I'm not
a woman who cares what bag I carry I just found it amazing what some will do for a special bag.
Good book and I am pretty sure I will read the others in the series and by this author as she covers all bases.
I received this book from The Kennsington Books in exchange for my honest review

The Perfume Collector
1955 Grace Monroe finds her husband cheated on her and is given an inheritance. Book also follows Eva Dorsey in Paris and she has been told she must stop drinking.
An abandoned perfume shop and all the secrets they hold.  Loved when she found the shop with all the vials and they are able to read their names...
Kind of confusing as the chapters change to different years along the way and go back, then forward, then back, etc. Really good story if you can follow along.
Especially loved learning how to blend the items to create one's own special fragrance.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Wish List by Fern Michaels
Ariel is just about 50 when she realizes Hollywood has done its best for her and time to move on-the medical scare doesn't help her move on.
She buys a trucking company along with her lifetime maid and they proceed to educate themselves how to run it.
Men come into their lives and the relationships are interesting to hear about. Love the rescue dog that adopts her. Trucking business doesn't like having female bosses that they learn about firsthand.
Glimpses of her past life are given throughout giving us the full picture. Love who come to help her...
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

The Beach Quilt by Holly Chamberlin
This summer novel is about teen girls who've been friends forever.  Cordelia and Sarah and they are starting to like boys, dating, etc. One ends up pregnant and it changes all their lives in the small Maine town near the ocean.
The story also not only follows their story but one of their mothers. Cordelia's mother, Adelaine owns the local quilt store.  Sarah's mother, Cindy works at the quilt store and they are all family friends, outside of work.
Sarah becomes pregnant and everybody's lifes are now upside down. Adoption comes up and keeping the baby would mean major adjustments to the family core as Sarah would have to continue going to high school. The women do open up to one another of their past lifes.
Reason I wanted to read this book was not only the story line, the beach but the quilt that binds and hold them all together. Love that they all know how to quilt=some like it more than others.
Was not prepared for the outcome although the families rally throughout the whole book, in support of one another.
I received this book from The Kennsington Books in exchange for my honest review

Summer Friends by Holly Chamberlin
This summer novel is about two women who met each other as girls and summered each year in the same town in Maine. Delphine Crandall not only works the family farm, but helps in the diner.
Maggie Weldon grew up on the other side of the tracks and has never wanted for anything in her life. They were the best of friends, even pinky promised some things and they were able to go off to college together.
Years later they reunite back in the town but Maggie can't get through to Delphanie. I found this a hard book to read because there are few characters but mostly they just needed to talk out their problems with one another
as to why they stopped communicating with each other. Del realizes when a family medical tragedy occurs that she has to back out of her plans with Maggie and doesn't give an explanation.
Maggie tries to help by intervening several times and Maggie doesn't see that side of things. Glad of the ending and getting things out in the open....

Skipping Christmas by John Grisham
The money they had spent on Christmas last year was enough for a cruise to warm balmy weather in the Carribean and they decide this year to just skip the holiday.
The neighbors have strong feelings about the house being left alone-not decorated like all the others on the block. The kids are away for the holidays.
Neighbors bombard them with pleads of help for charity and it falls on deaf ears. Tanning salons and going on a diet are the plan of action so they will fit in on the island when they arrive.
Could one phone call change their minds about the plans? This really concentrates on all the drama and commercialization surrounding the holiday, makes me laugh.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

The Glass Kitchen by Linda Francis Lee
Wanted to read this book for a few reasons, storyline sounded strong and something that interests me and that it's about one who cooks and bakes.
Like how this story starts out and the magic of the knowing. Fast paced til Portia gets to NYC where she moves into her apartment left from an aunt. Her sisters had sold their apartments.
She is now divorced and has not much money left and her sisters approach her with an idea that really does not appeal to her. I am so glad she brought the glass kitchen cookbook from her grandmother with her.
Love her ideas and the food selections from the customers ailments that she is able to cure with ingredients that are healthy.
She is able to not only help the children of Gabriel but she stands up for herself with help from others, vs. her ex husband and his dealings. Misunderstandings draw them all apart from one another and secrets, hidden well, will bring them back together.
I received this book from ReadingGroupGuides.com in exchange for my honest review.

Clifford's Pals
Audio version has turn page sounds and last section does not offer them.
Clifford the red dog and Elizabeth takes care of him. He waits for her after school but gets tired one day and found new dog pals to play with.
Ball at a construction area looks like fun but it's a wrecking ball. Paint spills on them...
Always mishaps with Clifford...
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

MY REVIEW;

 Celine by Peter B. Miller
Wanted to read this book because of the art industry. Love learning about new things and am fascinated with the arts.
This book is about the deep intense electrifying affection one woman has for another (her soul mate) and how they are drawn into a group that also
allows them to bring others in to aid them in their endeavors.
I found the relationships not only intense and deep but very real.
Loved the travel and hiking as these are some of my favorite things to do.
Although the sex scenes for the most part were over the edge to me, I read just regular Harlequin contemporary romance novels,  I can visually see the scenes playing out in front of me-the detailed descriptsions were so vivid.
When things go wrong on one trip it makes those involved realize what they do have with one another. Love all the past lifes and the secrets that come to light. Brings the book full circle as to why things happened.
Enjoyed the history while flying over the European countries and all the fashion and art names in the book. Demons appear in dreams and you wonder how they will overcome their actions.
I did find the French translations confusing as you had to read what they were translated in the footnote section, then get back to the story. Made sense while reading it as the conversations meant more in the native language to those speaking it.
Few characters, easy to keep track of as the evolved over time. This book, under 200 pages really tells a very in depth story, one worth reading.
Hope there is another book with the same characters to continue on their journey.  Surprised at the ending, it could've gone many ways.
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
5 stars out of 5

Until I Found You by Victoria Bylin
This book sounded interesting and am glad I was able to obtain a copy for review.
It's about how a woman comes back to home to care for an aging adult parent and help run the newspaper that is published once a week.
The story also follows Nick Sheridan who is helping out at the newspaper and is also an author and photographer for a man's outdoor adventure magazine.
There are many secrets along the way that come to light. We learn the grandmother's story about her love life. Throughout the book there are parts talking of God and how he's played a part in their lifes.
Loved learning about the nature and the terrain and how the town helps one another in times of a crises.
There are others that the book also follows and like how they are all entertwined.
Bit typical and you know what the outcome will be when you first start reading the book but the journey is interesting and so much happens to them all.
I received this book from BooksClub Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

Here to Stay by Melisa Tagg
I wanted to read this book for a few reasons: country side of VT and running an inn and an annual Christmas festival.
This book starts out following two people:  Autumn Kingsley who is helping her brother run the dilapidated inn she was handed when she mother wanted to retire. Lots of secrets we learn of from the past that play a part in the present.
Also Blake Hurizkers who run the upscale hotel in town and he's just returned to the family fold and been welecomed. Lots of secrets come out about the death of his brother and they all learn new details on the death.
When things don't go right-she needs help-manual labor at the inn, and he needs help planning the big Christmas festival they combine forces and help one another out.  She's had her fill of the inn and gets the job offer in Paris-loved hearing of this part of the travel.
But things don't go according to plan when she hopes a buyer comes to stay that he will make her an offer for the place. Lots of trust in God along with scripture quotes. Loved the travel, town and new things, especially how they celebrate the holiday.
I received this book from BooksClub Network (bookfun.org) in exchange for my honest review.

Clifford Christmas by Norman Bridlewell
This audio book has sounds to help turn your page and is a delightful cheerful book to listen to.
Talks of how they start the holiday Season at Thanksgiving, after the parade and Clifford sees Santa.
Snow happens and their friends make a snowman with the help of Clifford, the dog. Ice hockey and then......the tree, way too big but just right for Cliffords' house..
Other favorite times, mistletoe, and Christmas eve. Book is not describing the details, you really need the book to follow

MY REVIEW:

Shadow Shifters by JB Thomas
Was excited to get to read this book as I've read other works by the author and enjoyed the read.
Glad to know upfront that there will be 3 books in this series-I like a short series of books and I will be able to finish it quickly as I know there will be others. I won't have to put this book down, not wanting it to end because it does not end, there will be more.
Interesting links led me to hear what others who've experienced these and what they have said about their personal experiences. Love learning new things and there are many things to learn about as the story goes on.
Loved all the technical explanations of occurrences as I've experienced a few myself and never thought to learn more about them, at the time. Found the different angles from others enlightening throughout the book. Handful of characters and each one is so different and you learn about their talents.
As the story goes on you begin to realize what is happening and in your mind you put the puzzle pieces together til it comes together-throughout the book there are clues-can't skip to the end to find out the conclusion...
Lots of different components compiled make this a fascinating read! Loved the travel and this will make a perfect gift for our teen granddaughter for Christmas!
I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest review.
I rate this 5 stars out of 5.
along with the whole story. Other mishaps occur but all is set right.
The second half of this book is the same story, just told without page turn signals.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Clifford the small red puppy by Norman Bridwell
This audio book has first section with turn page signals. Second half is without the signals.
Emily Elizabeth is the reader and she describes the story. She tells her friend how she got Clifford.
The story follows how the puppy grows up and how they learned along the way.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Clifford at the Circus by Norman Bridwell
This audio book has first section with turn page signals. Second half is without the signals.
Emily Elizabeth is the reader and she tells the story. This book is about how Clifford her dog goes to the circus with her.
They see many things there : a sign asking for help. She and Clifford apply for the job to help them put the show on.
She tells of the problems with the animals and Clifford solves that problem. Clowns needed to be trained as some had quit.
Clifford helps again. Story tells of other problems and how they fix them up so the show will go on. The sights and sounds of the circus feel very real.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Night comes to the Cumberlands, a biography fo a depressed area by Harry Cottle
he specific area is about the coal mining in eastern Kentucky.
The downfall of what is left after the mine is closed down.
Tragedies and tributes to the miners.  Not sure what it is that fascinates me into learning how they do their job, the pitfalls and the outcome of each dig. Also work during the depression, WAP, etc.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

The 4.1.1. Cook Book" Seasoning Mixes and Homemade Fixes
Wanted to scan through this book as we are using a lot more herbs and spices these days rather than salt.
Besides having the dishes there is also a section for the spices themselves. Good combination of what spices go with what food groups, meats, poultry, etc.
Beef stew packet would be my first one to try. Looked at a few others and even using sweet butter those won't be used at our house due to our diet needs.
Lots of other mixtures of spices to try out from this book: meatloaf, Italian dressing, Greek salad dressing to name a few.
Other tips about how to clean items, gardening, and so much more. Defintely a book I'll be keeping on hand and handy.

a woman who cares what bag I carry I just found it amazing what some will do for a special bag.
Good book and I am pretty sure I will read the others in the series and by this author as she covers all bases.
