They run in the snow and play while others are watching...
Another book is about snowman Paul and he's reading about the Olympics and wants to compete...Like how he helps him exercise to build up his muscles...
Another book is about them saving Kate's birthday. Such detailed colorful places and lots of special things to look at-reminds me of the green room in good night moon.
And at the concert hall This snowman can do just everything! Other works by the author are highlighted at the end, along with a gift.

Colorful, children's book about the Winter Olympics. 
Dan a little boy watches as Snowman Paul is studying about the events in the winter Olympics. He wants to compete and knows he will win gold.
He exercises and Dan is afraid Paul  will hurt himself. The snowman is made of snow so there's not much harm he can come on on the snow.
He competes in all the events and his scores are very high then Dan realizes how it all happened....cheat????
He talks to Paul about it and wants him to do the right thing.
Love all the events he competes in, so real to life!  Paul can't wait for the summer games to compete again but that might be a bit hard as he will melt in the hot weather.

Snowman Paul returns to the Winter Olympics by Yossi Lapid 
This is a colored children's rhyming story about the adventures of Snowman Paul.
This story starts out when Paul announces the Olympics want him to be a referee.
He was so honest and truthful at the Olympics. He shows the kids all the rules he must learn from all the sports.
The children of the neighborhood found things a bit strange, not having Paul to play with them.
Then Snowman Paul asks them a question and things are back to normal.
Next we learn about the ceremony and other things surrounding the Olympics. 
Love how this one turns out as others realize Paul is true to his word.

Colorful children's book about Snowman Paul and he's watching Kate skate and talks to Dan about how good she is.
Kate wants Paul to give her some tips as he had won gold medals.
Paul asks Dan to help also then he will help him win at ice chess on the frozen pond...
As a team they helped her with jumps, speed and other things til she collapses. She knows she's not good enough but Dan and Paul have other plans for her...
They give her confidence and she shows them all! She has a skating test and she has a big success. Now to help Dan with his chess game...
Beautiful colors and things to look at in the book, they really stand out.

Diamonds and Cole (A Cole Sage Mystery, #1) by Micheal Maxwell

What urged me to read this book was the sparkly gems: diamonds. I was able to find many more gems in this story.

Story line sounded a bit different than what I've been reading lately and it turns out it's a well written story.

This story starts out with Cole and he's getting hate from every which way he turns.  He is a writer at the Chicago newspaper.

They give him a story and he has to investigate and research it and then write about it. He's been all over the world in his lifetime.

The woman he loved got away from him as he left to cover a 3 year story in Asia.  He is contacted that she is in trouble and he finds out she is in a nursing center or sorts.

He heads to CA where he and she grew up and finds her, in a broken state. ALS and she just wants to find her daughter. He is able to reminisce with her about the old days, so many laughs and tears.

He researches with help from a cop in Chicago and he travels around to meet the new spouse who had her sign away her parents property and POA. She wants it for her daughter.

He finds out so much more and diamonds are involved. I'm hoping the spouse gets clobbered not only business wise but personal for just dumping Ellie in the center to die there.

Love how the rest of the story goes for Ellie. Kinda had a hint or two along the way as to her father but was surprised how it came out and who it was.

I love daisies, Leonard Cohen, and CSNY-treasured gems and more are found in this book.

Like travel, romance, long lost love found, and making things right, learning new words.

Love learning about this Cuban holiday and how it's celebrated. I was not familiar with the characters but the author makes it easy to understand who's paired with who.
Love how the family reacts to many events that take place during the celebrations.
Super love all gathering where the whole family is there.
The food, yum yum yum.  Realistic events of things others are going through and some completed tasks.
Gives you the list of where to find the couples in their own books, in their own series.
Each chapter has a name of one of the characters and what the holiday means to them.
About the author and all her other works are listed at the end. Links to her social media sites are included.

When the two adults fight over the very last one at the store there is a solution. They must wrap gifts for a donation and the one with the most wins the toy.
Things are going well til he turns his charm on for the ladies....she sees what he's doing and calls him on it. They get to talking to find out a bit more about each other.
She gets a call about her son who's been hospitalized due to an accidnet and she has to leave....He wants her to win but is unable to locate the woman with the name she gave him...
Miracles do happen...

During the concert she got caught in the pit and Vonn was the one to rescue her, taking her to hospital and then home. His plane got cancelled due to heavy snow and he stayed at her house.
She was writing a story about the band, it's farewell tour, ever and now she has the time to really ask him questions that mattered.
Her children were at their fathers.  Vonn is an excellent cook and they question one another in front of the fire eating his excellent meal.
They exchange so many personal secrets with one another and he has to leave on Christmas morning. Love the gifts and her kids and ex and his family show up and Mark.
What Vonn had told her to do, to move on, hit home and she makes plans to do just that...
You wonder if they will ever get together or if it was just one night....

A Chocolate-Box New Years (Chocolate-Box #2) by Josie Riviera  
This story starts out with praise for the authors' works.
Story starts with Julie and she not only runs the restaurant but owns it and works nonstop.
Love that her siblings live nearby and are very supportive. She feels migraines coming on often as she is doing too much, doesn't count on others to do her work.
Story also follow Lorenzo and he's a Italian local weatherman and others jest he hardly gets the forecast right. He wants her to take charge of the wedding anniversary dinner at her place.
She assumes it's for he and his wife but learns otherwise later...He wants his grandmother's recipe and she tries it with his being the taste tester and she just can't get it right-the recipe was very vague.
Her sister-from the chocolate shop tell her it's so he can spend time with her-he compliments her often. 
Love hearing of the authentic way to make pasta and that she donates the leftovers. 
Like the things they find in common after spending a lot of hours taste testing the recipe-he wants it perfect for the dinner.
With so much in common they can't find ground to stand on where one is off balance and you wonder if they will ever get together.

Book starts out with praise and reviews. Info about author's newsletter.
Story starts out with Colum O'Brien and he's on his way to his father's wedding. He will be in the wedding party and he wonders if the girl next door will be there also.
The story also follows Keira (kiki) and she's her mothers choice at the wedding. They are able to reminisce about the days they were dating one another, getting to really know one another.
Love hearing of her sewing abilities and how they each followed their dreams-he to be on stage in plays, her on the runway and even a designer.
Like hearing what they do now 30 years later and how things were left when they fell apart.
You wonder if they will get back together. Like Irish theme in this one and have heard the Irish blessing many times. So touching.
Love that this book is about 50er's characters.

Starts with an introduction where author talks about her news and signing up for her newsletter.
Praise for the authors works from readers.
Shannice is crusing the dating apps... She hadn't felt her old boyfriend even listened to her.
Her first boyfrined left an impression on her, Lincoln Reid. He is a divorcee.
She needs to move forward....
story also follows Lincoln and he's returned to the town. He has plans to relocate the toy store he and his sister run to that little town.
He even looks at Shay's farm house. He tells her a bit about his plans...
Love small things like thrift store and fire pit. So many secrets come to light and he tells her his new plans..
She's devastated that he's not paying for her farmhouse, she really needed the money...
She's hurt and didn't wait to hear what else he had to say....You wonder if they will ever get together...
Love learning about the holiday, Kwanza and all it stands for.
Like hearing more about their careers, using their hands, priceless!
Love the charity work everybody is involved in.

Invisible by Danielle Steel  
Story is about Antonia and since her mother walked out on their family she knows she hast to hide from them. She knows how to take care of herself since 7 and older.
Her father pays no attention to her, he's pissed off at the wife that left him and the daughter to go act in LA. There are tidbits of information about her throughout.
Antonia is able to persuade her father with his new wifes help to allow her to attend college and major in screenwriting.  She has intern jobs in LA and hopes to locate her mother while there to no avail.
She's excellent at her job and others have an eye for her. One is a director and she learns a lot from him til they realize they are in love with one another while she's working on his film, even got her to act in the movie to please him.
She had a few more spots but all she wants to do is screenwrite. She works during her pregnancies. Tragedy occurs and she has no one to help her. Her relies on Lara her step mother and a lot of the others from the movie industry.
She is able to relocate the whole family to a huge farm in CT where she hopes to raise the children, ride horses and get a great education. Olympia her daughter wants to act and she's real good at it...
Dash heads to his own adventures in Africa and the family stays in touch with Antonia writes more writing.
Assistant director moves into her life once again and the kids really like having him nearby. She leaves to become invisible again after they celebrate her birthday.
She's just a low key person. So much to this story, it's a KEEPER.
Love how she was able to live her life after all the tragedies. Hate how the mother approached her later in life. so cruel.

Double Agent by Ethan Jones

In this book we find Justin and Carrie up to their regular regime of bringing peace to the world.

What I love about this one is when she is taken and she is able to get rid of the two men who had her handcuffed, but with one hand free. They surely didn't know what she could do with one hand.

She is able to overcome them and go find Justin. Love also the part about San Francisco Bridge and the events that were taking place there.

Love that she found information about the whereabouts of her father's body.  They had been fooled when they thought the man who appeared was their friend. They find out later just how much he was...

So much action, adventure, clues and lots of weapons, others who are on their side, and some that are not, travel and romance.

Christmas Diamond by Hallee Bridgemann
This book starts out with dedication page to the readers. Table of contents and listing of what's in Jewel series.
Story begins with Faith and she's in FL, all the way from England where she lives nearby her Grandmum. She's in a nursing home so Faith can continue her flying.
In FL she's to be part of a flying team that the team has flown before. She is walking along the beach when she notices children swimming in their pool and she stumbles over a body. She starts mouth to mouth on him til he is breathing on his own.
His family members meet TJ there and take him to the hospital. She learns a bit more about the family and who TJ is.
At an evening’s party she is introduced to him and she sits at the family table. They are the ones hosting the dinner and the whole flying show in the next days.
Love how the team perform, one of their best but there is an airplane accident. 
Like how this one goes, the women involved in the war overseas and how the wings are handed down from generation to generation.
Great ending.  There is a LOT of history in this story.
Translation phrases are explained. Inspired by real events of Virtues and Valor, Luncheon menu is included, with recipes.  Discussion questions are included.

Southern Peach Pie and a dead guy by A. Gardner
This story starts out with Poppy, almost 30 and she's enrolling in a culinary school down South.  The arrangement is you live at the location and work in the bakery shop.
She takes many classes and before she knows it she's being accused of  setting the oven too high causing evacuation and fire dept shows up to put the fire out. She then is accused of killing a teacher.
She gathers the clue along with Cole. She lies with Bree who loves to bake. They follow the leads to the clues they have and end up at a farm where they learn the beginning of the school and traditions.
She heads back to Oregon for a break where someone follows her.....
Love just when you think the story is over you have 10 more chapters to go and you wonder why.  Great read, keeps you on your toes. Excited to see who wins the end showoff of a favorite recipe to make.

Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger 
This book was a bit disturbing to me. The events that take place are a bit out of my comprehension. Maybe it was where I grew up, northeast farm town.
The obstacles the kids ran into were just not around us, or we didn't see them.  I find the events tragic and images in my head wn't be disappearing for some time.
Story gets more reasonable as it goes along. Huge mysteries as to a lot of questions, they go answered the further you read.
Such tragedy though, devstation, thought mother would kill herself as so many in the book had. It was just a big burden to carry that she could've done better...
Like epilogue and surprised they all seem to lead a normal life.








 

 
Back To Grandmom by Jessica D. Adams
This children's book starts with family tree and dedication pages. Note from the author about leaving a book review. and acknowledgements.
Story starts where Janiece and Janelle are playing in their room and Janelle stated. Janiece does not want to she gets too bored with NO technology around.
While they are playing with their stuffed animals they bump their heads and rub the pain and realize they are back in time in the grandmom's house.
What I like is how they spend their time with their grandmom. Such meaningful memories of the things they did while with her.
Time is short with her and love hearing about fun, NON tech things they were able to do and still have a blast.
The next day they have breakfast and are ready to go to church.....

Daddy Donkey And His Little Son: A children's picture book about the unconditional love between a father and son - A perfect father's day gift for kids aged 3 to 8 (Animal Kingdom 1) by Vedika Agrawal 
Colorful children's book about Daddy Donkey and his little son.
Name plate starts the book. Story starts with Louie the donkey and he's not like the others in the herd. When they are all out walking around Louie sees a little lion cub but the others tell him not to bother him and take thorns out as lions will eat them all.
Louie helps then waits with him for his family to come find him. After a while Louie brings him back to his farm and the cub makes a mess of things.
Cub is not eating grass like Louie so they travel to where the foxes live and grab some of their food. the cub has to roar to scare the foxes away.
Lion finds his cub and they leave. Foxes come to the farm and scare them all away into the jungle. Louie is not young and can't run anymore and stays behind in the jungle.
He gets a surprise and it revives him outlook. He puts a sign around Louie's neck as he had done to him when he was much younger.
Maze game is included, all about my dad page, and about the books in the series along with about the authors. and award page to fill out for best dad.
Cute story, very colorful.


 

 
Moral Stories - Pearls of Wisdom (Part - 1) (Let's Learn Book 2) by Kalyani Kumari (Author), Kunal Das  (Author)
Colorful, children's book.
This story starts out with a nameplate. Story of the vegetables and how just because one gains a crown on his head thinks he's in charge of the whole garden.
The little boy watches them fight it out... The son tries to explain to his father that the potato should be king, it goes with any meal. Love moral of this story: we should live together happily and respect each other. Wish I grew up on this farm, LOVE vegetables no matter what they are.

Next story is about a Molly the butterfly and a Stark the crow.  The cow wants to be friends with the butterfly but he's ignored so the  crow flies away.
As it got colder out the butterfly got nabbed in a spider's web and Stark comes to the rescue.  Love moral of this one: Friends can be of any color, size or shape. Friendship is a relation, not made on the basis of one’s beauty and charm.
Wish more would adhere to this and we could stop a lot of fights and wars.

Monkey and the Whip.
Mac the monkey is adventurous and gets a ride to the city and gets involved in the circus, how fun this sounds!
He shows his animal friends that he can be the ruler of the forest.  He had watched what the lion tamer had done...
The whip doesn’t work for the lion at the circus..... Moral: do not copy foolishly, it could be dangerous.

Girl agrees to talk to her mother about the uncles behavior....Not all touches are good. Learn the difference.
Love that she will talk to her mother and how a difficult a subject this is. ...

She loves her goat Dolly and warns her not to go into the jungle. One stormy night she wants Dolly to come inside because it's very cold. She searches for her all over the jungle.
Different animals say they've not seen Dolly but try another animal. She searches all night to no avail and heads back home.

Tinki and the Tour to Fairyland
Tinki is a girl that loves to sleep. When her mother wakes her up she always asks isn't ti Sunday but it's a school day. She makes it through breakfast then heads to the bus stop.
She falls asleep on the bus and she wakes up in fairy land where she has a blast playing and dressing up as a queen.
Then she wakes up for real on the bus and they are at school. She has a lunch and it's just like what she saw in fairyland.
Not sure of all the foreign words so I hope I got the idea right.

There are no individual recipe photos but there are colorful full pages of food found in Canada.
Really like stew recipes, have my isntant on now with a vegetable soup for this week.

Soft pretzels, we stopped in a German town in PA where we were able to make our own soft pretzels. Was so fun learning about them.

Love section on hand pies and how it all started on the streets in NY. We have a plastic mold and it works just perfect, hold it in your hand, like a tabletop pie you get at the store.
You can also put a meal in there to eat, chicken, potatoes and veggies. Some recipes give you equipment you will need to make the items and also a note from the author about the memories of making the pie herself and where.
There are some recipes that have tiny color pictures of the process that they are showing you various pictures.

 Starts with table of contents where recipes are in a monthly chapter. I like this idea because I'd normally not be having watermelon in November but summer months.
Under each month are the recipes, not in your typical format.
It lists the title sometimes the country comes from. Gives you ingredients are included and you should be able to substitute for your healthier dietary needs: low sodium, low fat, low sugar and fresh vs. canned items.
Tells you how to mix and serve with other items.
NO pictures and NO nutritional information but wow what a book, such a collection of older recipes.
Might be hard to find a rabbit or other animal they mention to make into a stew. Other older books are highlighted at the end.
