Mystery of the Missing Horseman by Gita V. Reddy
This is another middle school age book for kids to read.
It's about Sandy and she's heading to India to her mother's family palace where she grew up.
Sandy had gone the previous year but was sick and is really looking forward to this trip.
Legends and tales, there are so many of them but the they are talked about by the experts and brought to life in front of the kids.
The one that really gets them going is the missing horseman. When the original kids growing up in the palace were given gifts, they were mechanical things.
The younger boy didn't want to share his with the older boy cuz he had broken his race car already, so the youngest one hid it in a compartment.
There are well over 100 family members staying at the palace and some are given death threats.
The mafia want the palace and lands and the original papers mysteriously go missing.
Love the technology brought into this story as it helps the kids find some many items, treasures and documents.
Love details of tunnels, palace all lit up, cottages and caves.
Palace has enough things for everybody to do, even the adults with meetings about yoga and other interesting things. Love hearing of the traditions and the village how they are there for all and palace is there for them.
Love this series but they are stand alone books. Ends with a bit about the Mystery of the Diamond Ring.

Winter Counts by David Heska Wanbli Weiden
Virgil lives on the res and with his nephew, Nathan. Buck wants him to locate the man who's selling heroin.
Before he knows it Nathan has overdosed on heroin. He's able to get him back but he still wants to find the culprit.
Like hearing of the customs and traditions that are still done.
Reminds me of Longmire, a tv series that we watched. Very close relations to this story as the laws for Indians are ruled by the Res cops.
Nathan is being framed and only way out is to wear the wire and make a drug deal.  Marie who is Buck's father has moved in with Virgil as they work together to find the culprit drug dealer.
Love what the title really means, we had done something similar with our advent calendar, but the one they talk about is so much more memorable.
Lots of action, travel,  drugs, cartels, betrayal and moving on. Love to learn that the author has written other books, can't wait to read those also.
I received this review book from The Kensington Books and this is my honest opinion.

Ifechidere By Chinedu Enechi
She is born and before she knows it she loses so much and others take her in to care for her.  Hate that others make her their own personal maid but she is able to get beyond it all.
She has faith and strength and is very brave to deal with reality.
Part I can relate to is when Steve takes a liking to her.   Wedding plans are made and before that the meeting of the families to decide on the event and ceremony.
She is very accomplished but is not sure about him after a bit of time has passed. He travels for work and never really has told her just what it is he does.
Don't care for the ending because it's a cliff hanger. She has so much more of her life, maybe we'll read about it in another book in the series.
Glossary of words and phrases are listed at the end of the book. Felt lost reading the book as I'm not familiar with the language and slang.  Like the area and details of what is there for work and shops in the area.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion. Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Survival By John Achile Yusuf
Enjoyed this book and can't wait to read more from this author. Couldn't put the book down.
Book starts out with the students that are just back from National Camp and the team going to South Africa will be leaving soon to represent Nigeria.
The reason I enjoy these types of stories is because the children have grown up and are very resourceful.
After the plane crashes the students band together as they have landed in a jungle. One girl is very smart about animals and tell them how to protect themselves.
Some make spears out of long poles. There is a lot of bloodshed and so many wild animals.
At the same time some parents are hounding the police to find the wreckage and the students. There are clues that the kids survived...
Love how one uses what he has to set up a signal heard by others to direct them to be saved.
20 days later they are rescued, some in bad condition, others in worse and some mentally beaten up.
Lots of travel, action, adventure, survivalist skills and living off the land.
Glossary of words are explained at the end of the story.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Murder At Midnight Series: An Alex Simpson Mystery, Book 1 By John Ukah
This story starts out with Alex and he's arriving at the Lodge to recuperate from Typhoid fever.
He has been there before and felt it was home to him. Last time two people had died. He is immediately introduced to several who are also there.
He meets the mother and daughter later as they sit to have dinner. It's a small collection of people and they have their quirks with one another.
Maria, Alex thinks is in love with one if not more of the men and is trying to escape her mother. She had lost her spouse in a car crash and is left with cruces to get around.
Love that she knits, I do also and find it calming.
Maria approached John and told him of her getting the letters of a love affair and she's not sure what to do with them.
Shortly after we find she's been killed and nobody knows who. John used to be a cop and all of them come to him to tell him of why they think they possibly had killed her accidentally.
John digs and finds out so much more information about them all and the real cops are there to investigate. Another person comes down really sick and others think it's rat poison mixed in with cocoa.
I like mysteries and am usually very far off guessing who did it. This was the same although I remembered some secrets to some clues but was no help to me in the long run.
Really enjoy this series and hope to get to read more from this author. Very detailed descriptions, would make a good movie also!

Death Leaves a Shadow by Gabriel F W Koch
Starts out with other works by the author,  and praise for publisher and dedication to family.
Story starts in 1951 and you learn different things about others Black works with. Also glimpses of his war history with others that he is still in contact with when he needs a bit of extra help.
Things get out of hand at times but he remains in control of some situations. He is hot on the trail of a man and he needs to serve him his due justice.
He hits where it will effect the man rather then directly. He has lost his true love but finds passion in anothers arms. She also is helping him with some situations.
Love the locations and things that are brought to them.
Trains, hmm we had those a whole 8feet plywood display, they are ok but this story makes them sound like I need to get some again, at least for the bottom of the Christmas tree.
Like mystery, clues he finds, how he processes things, the action, adventure and unpredictable and how he stays calm through thick and thin.
Would enjoy more of this author's works, like the style of writing and he really captures your attention and makes you part of the story.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Forever There For You By Chioma Nnani
Enjoyed this story about a young girl who is spoiled being the only child in the family. She lives in Nigeria and wants to be a lawyer and go to university in England.
She is an over achiever and makes friends as soon as she arrives at campus. Nadine has many relationships throughout her young life.
Troubling times when she is no longer appreciated and she lets it go to her head. Such abuse is so horrid to read about and hate the way it all turned out.
She had no idea who was really there for her.
Glossary of words used are attached at the end.
Excerpt from the next book is included.
Received this review copy from the book reviewer yellow pages and this is my honest opinion.

Why They Stay: Sex, Scandals and Hidden Agendas of Eight Political Wives by Anne Michaud
Book starts out with praise from others, dedications page and table of contents
Under each couple are also listed other sections that are highlighted within their story pertaining to their lives.
Love how in the prologue the author lists the traits and a bit about them and your mind is then open to hear the rest of the couples stories and you realize just how much in common they have.
I do like the format of this book. Each of the 8 people discussed all have same inner sections pertaining to them and their lives. Like especially the sections where children are discussed and I wonder if they will grow up like their parents.
Another thing I liked about the stories was that I know who the people are but only the political side of things, not personal things.
This was an eye opener for me and fills in the missing pieces to the puzzle of why they sometimes acted a certain way. Couldn't put my finger on it at the time, now it all comes clear to me.
Never realized there were other women in early 1900's that had stayed with their spouses for the power and freedom and money it gave them.
Book ends with conclusion by the author and they sum it up really well, nice and clear.
Endnotes are also included like references of where they obtained their information on each of the couples.
About the author is listed also at the end.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Complications by Danielle Steel
Dedication to her children and list of her works are shown at the beginning of the book.
This author, I've read most of her works, tells a story and with the descriptions makes you feel as if you are there.
Story starts and comes with history of the hotel that is being renovated in Paris and is opening that night after months of being closed.
Internet and phones are still an issue.
We learn of Gabrielle and she's by herself after divorcing Arthur as he has a new very younger wife and child.
Patrick is there and meets his male lover...
Richard and his girl are there-others think on their honeymoon.
With phones not working there is no way to quickly get a heart attack patient help, another man is dead and so many have no idea what is going on.
New owners of the hotel will not like the downfall of the first week of the reopening...
Story follows them all: the heart attack patient needs approval from his spouse but Judythe is not his spouse...
Alastair  has just a few months to live, is there and knows a bit about medical things and took over with the defibulator at the hotel.
He is there to just reassure her and help with French as she's American. Alistair had also spent some time with Gabrielle having a drink before he headed to the hospital.
Over time and treatment Alastair has traveled to visit NY to see Gabrielle and even meet her daughters.
They spend time together all over the country in art fairs for Gabby's clients. So real when they are visiting Paris again and jewel robbers are there...
Love how this one ends, didn't see it happening this way. You are brought up to date on the people of that night at the Louis XVI hotel in Paris.
I received this review book from Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine via Net Galley and this is my honest opinion.

A Summer Classic: The Bew White Story by Christopher Taunton (
Great read. About Bew and his life, starts when he is young, going through school and then dating.
He knows what he wants and goes after it. He has a very sharp mind and knows how to use it as he progresses to the top of the ladder.
He has many jobs during his life and along with his wife they are able to raise several children. Like how he works with others in various businesses and in different countries.
So many times it's emotional and then financial and you wonder how he can go on....
Quotes are noted at start of every chapter relating to the contents of that chapter.
He relies on many to help raise money while they have to let others go.
Beautifully written story and I enjoyed their journey through hard and good times.
Received this review copy from the publcist and this is my honest opinion.

Lady Mary's Dangerous Encounter by Cheryl Bolen
Love this story because it's got a lot of components to it: mystery, romance, travel and spies.
Book starts out with Mary and she's going to travel using the money she's saved through Europe with a final destination of Vienna.
She is not taking a maid so her brother enlists help of Stephen who also went to the same school. Stephen would hope he'd do the same if his sisters ran away.
She meets up with a nanny and they are chair man lifted to an inn in the valley deep in the mountains after suffering through an avalanche.
She goes missing and Mary is not sure what's going on. She then meet up with Lord Stephen and he's been warned that she tells stories. He really tries to side with her til he realizes what she is telling him is the truth.
They are able to band together to find clues as to the woman who's now gone, there are items left behind. Love the little secrets about each other that come out along the way.
Just when you think you know who the culprits are you find out you are wrong and others are investigated. They are betrayed by many and they agree to now help them solve the mysteries.
Mary's life is in danger one night...Last straw is when Stephen's manservant is killed.  Lose this series and can't wait to read more.
Ends with the author's other works  and how to contact her.

Early Thursday by Linda Cunningham
This story starts out with Walt and he lives with his family in southern Louisiana and it's hurricane season.
What I love about this book are the different jobs in the area that people do with their hands. His father worked on the oil rigs til he got injured,
then a shrimp boat owner. Everybody knows it is very early to have a hurricane but they are watching out for the signs that they must leave.
They live in a parish that is feet under sea level and floods easily. Like the kids in the neighborhood and how free they are to play outside, along the shore and in the fields.
Hurricane Audrey  finds them late to get out of the area and head to the attic and then the roof. Tragic and I can't even imagine the sights the boy saw floating by. Things you'll never get out of your head.
Have been through many here up the coast in RI and have to evacuate a few times, scary times. Like how the story follows him when he attends college and strange sights come to him.
Like how the diary gave us a glimpse of the past days his mother helped as a nurse in the hospital. Love hearing of the German POW's and how they helped around the area for the community.
Never thought the ending would occur as it did, fantastic! Glossary of words from the southern dialect are explained. About the author is also included.
Can't wait to read more from thsi author-she does her homework and turns history into an excellent read.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Daisy's Decision: A Christian Romance (Dixon Brothers Book 4)  Hallee Bridgeman
Feel like I got 3 books in this story as each of the triplets have sections about them.
Story follows Daisy as she grows up each year, having a crush on Ken, one of the triplet boys who's a few years ahead of her at high school. They all do come for religious get togethers over the years.
She ends up taking her grandparents advice, going to college on their dime, keeping grades up and becoming a lawyer and taking over the nonprofit they had started. She met a man and ends up pregnant and he wants no part of it, signs papers to that effect.
Story also follows Ken and how he has grown up becoming an architect along with his brothers and how they build houses and sometimes sell them, sometimes rent them out. He's on a call when he shows up at Daisy's business, not having seen her for many year and she discovers it's he she is meeting with.
It's a big project and he takes it on. The company that was financing it was her ex boyfriend who she's discovered is married.
She doesn't want to start dating Ken because of the pregnancy...
It's amazing how much they all pray through good and bad times. It's a wonder how the triplets are very much alike, including their girlfriends/wives....
Daisy had premonitions about the birth and followed up on them to keep the others safe. Medical emergencies really bring the whole community together and make things happen with prayer.
So much to this book because the family is large but it's a wonderful read.

Neighbors by Danielle Steel
This story is about a woman an ex movie star who's divorced and her girl has moved to the east coast to live.
Her ex hooked up with another actress and they do their own thing...Her son had died in a boating accident when he was young and story tells all about these facts.
The earthquake has hit the bay area and  with the help of the live in couple that has lived there for years they are able to prepare food for the other neighbors who turn up at her door.
As a recluse she has no idea who her neighbors are. Debbie and Jack the couple that tend to her every need are leery of inviting the whole gang in as they have no power and houses are not fit to be lived in.
They do get to know one another and we learn about them and the secrets. Some scenes are very emotional and scary for me. Abuse plays a role in this story.
Love the time some of the spend on the scene at soup kitchen and helping others.  So much goes wrong but a man that has come into her life helps her realize some are not who they say they are.
Love the time she finds her granddaughter and reconnects with her and surprise ending. Never saw it ending like this.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Boston's First Neighborhood: The North End by Paula J. Todisco
Really enjoyed listening to this book because of the location. I have visited the city many times, even north end where my eye doctors offices are located.
Encompasses the times from the pilgrims and beyond, explaining why each group of immigrants were there, why they had left their home countries.
Appreciated all those who worked with their hands as they knew what hard work was.
Lots of footnotes, reference notes are included.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Better With Every Breath by James Thornber
What grabbed my attention was advice and how to help grieve.
This is a story of Barbara who's passed away from the virus and her husband Jim survives.
There are many insistences of Bible quotes and passages, and scriptures that relate to the story line as events occur.
Love how open and down to earth the story is. Love hearing how and what helped him survive and keep on living and not only that but the ability to help others prepare to pass along while he was still grieving.
So powerful, emotional and touching. We have met with funeral director just the other day making arrangements now so kids won't have to deal with the details. It should help them just be able to grief without all the other hassles.
Beautiful gift to everybody. Other works the author are listed at the end.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Stalker Stalked by Lee Matthew Goldberg
A bit more creepier than I thought it would be. About a young woman and she's involved in many things.
Story goes back to her present boyfriends and past ones, the sex is not explicitly in detail but it's mentioned from time to time.
Like the drama of the society shows and the scenes that come to life.
At times she goes to extremes to get her boyfriend back by stalking him and also dressing in an animal costume to take sex pics of a girl she wants to friend and more.
She is also being stalked and watches for the shadows. She tries to prove to herself that she knows what to look for and she's better at stalking then the stalker them self.
Lexi has a run in with the doctor she sells pharma drugs to when he starts massaging her shoulders...
She fantasizes with the detective who questions her about the doctor and his complaint against her. She's very open...
Love the relationships she has with Pria and how she's there to get her up and dressed and cleaned up when she's been laying low for a several days with no contact.
Lexi does not reciprocate. Intervention from Pria and a lot of accusations about how Lexi is really turning into her mother sets Lexi's head on straight again...
Between reality shows and being on a new tv show you wonder what parts were the drugs and hallucinations and which were real.
She takes others advice and the outcome is quite a miracle. She has her own ideas of a new show, how to help others who are being stalked but she may not live to do much of anything...
About the author and their other works are listed at the end.
Kept my interest and couldn't put it down.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

The Champlain Monster by Jeff Danziger
Good story about a couple of girls who live and fish from the Champlain Lake. Have visited in the area many times and it's a large size lake.
One winter as it's just about thawing and turning into spring they notice some things and plan to investigate.
One night when their parents are not home they venture out and notice a calm spot where they put their shanty in the cold winter months to fish from the hole.
They start seeing bubbles and then the smell is like garbage bag of bad food when the thing erupts from the lake.
Scary after that and one goes missing but an elderly man has some clues to follow....
I received this review book from The Kensington Books and this is my honest opinion.

 Fun series, very entertaining

Annual Toy Drive: The Underground Toy Society by Jessica D. Adams

This colorful children's book starts with acknowledgements and then the story.

It's near holiday season and the toy store manager has placed the new toy bin where others can buy a new toy for those who are in need.

The underground Toy Society had been trying to find children that were in need on their own to no avail. Children either had too many toys or there were no children in the house they had found.

They came up one night to the toy store and Murry Mole and his toy friends are able to talk to  Billy Bear who's in the toy store with his new toys.

They get to talking and come up with a plan that will help the children. Love the pictures along the way as they help tell the story.

I remember my kids growing up and donating their good used toys to those in need.  Know they brought their kids up to do the same.

Favorite scene is old toys getting a bath with bubbles so they can get clean and put into a new box and added to bin. There were many obstacles but with them all working together they solved them all.

Other works by the author are highlighted at the end. About the author and how to contact her is also listed.

The Underground Toy Society

What happens to toys when children don't play with them? Where do toys go when their children grow up? What happens when there are too many toys in one house? Find out when Samantha goes on an exciting underground adventure as she tries to find her best friend after they were separated.

My Review:

The Underground Toy Society
This book starts out with a dedication page then the story.
Story starts out with Jessica nd Jennifer love their toys and have dolls they treasure, Samantha and Stacey. After the girls grow up they are given away, then in their new homes placed on a shelf and the dolls are separated...
Colorful sketches throughout this book of scenes being described.
What happens after that involves tunnels underground and you wonder if the dolls will ever reunite or find real loving families.
Lot of action and adventure and imagination.
Book ends with about the author, listing of her works and how to contact her.

The Underground Toy Society Helps Beary Bear

Janelle's favorite toy was Beary Bear. Janelle took Beary everywhere. During a family road trip, Janelle was too tired to hold onto Beary, and she dropped him. Beary was scared, and Janelle had a hard time at home without her favorite toy. Will Janelle and Beary be reunited? Find out as Murry Mole digs new tunnels underground to help The Underground Toy Society find Beary.

MY REVIEW:

The Underground Toy Society Helps Beary Bear
This book starts with acknowledgments and then the synopsis and then the story begins.
Janelle loves her Beary Bear so much they go with you all the time. Family takes a road trip and she falls asleep
Colorful sketches of what's going on in the story. Her other toys were concerned when the Bear did not come back and notify the underground toy society to help find the Bear.
Murry Mole is always helpful. He is able to locate the bear after he dug a new tunnel.  Murry and his helpers get busy with a plan...They are able to question Bear after cleaning them up.
With good news come some more bad news. Samantha the boss states you just can't put Beary back into the house. They have to come up with another good plan...
They are all amazed at the outcome, whew. Morale of the story is to keep your room clean and that way you won't misplace your favorite toy.
Other works of the author are listed at the end along with About The Author.
Other ways to contact the author are linkable.
Another fun exciting read from this author.

The Underground Toy Society Saves Peggy

Peggy remembers a time when she was the only baby doll in the house. Janice loved Peggy so much, but as all little girls do, Janice grew up. Peggy was passed down to Janice's two daughters, Jessica and Jennifer. Peggy had to learn to share her time with other toys.
After the two girls grew up, and Janice passed away, Peggy was forgotten. What will happen to Peggy? How will she ever find children to love her again?

MY REVIEW:
The Underground Toy Society Saves Peggy
This book starts out with acknowledgements and dedication page.
Story starts out with Janice when she was given a baby doll for Christmas one year.
Real life photos of the scenes from when they occurred years ago are also included..  Time spent with the doll and other relatives and the things they enjoyed doing with their dolls.
Lots of imagination. She also used Peggy as a pupil and taught her a lot of new things that she herself had learned in school.
Peggy was soon put in the cradle for long times because of other interests Janice had, then into a box....
Peggy hopes that Janice's daughters Jessica and Jennifer will take care of her.  The girls have so many toys and will play with Peggy but not as often as Janice had...

The Underground Toy Society Helps Ellie Elephant

Janiece loves to go camping with her family. She always brings along her favorite stuffed toy, Ellie Elephant. During one camping trip, Ellie was forgotten at the playground on a swing. Being far away from home, Ellie tries to locate The Underground Toy Society for help. Will Ellie be able to reunite with Janiece before bedtime?

MY REVIEW:

The Underground Toy Society Helps Ellie Elephant
Book starts with acknowledgements and then the story.
The girls Janiece and Janelle are heading to go camping with the family.
They travel far away and get to enjoy their toys that they brought along.
Problem comes with they are ready to leave and the girls stop to swing one last time
Janiece had forgotten Ellie on the swing. She is so tired on the way home she doesn't realize the elephant has been left behind.
Story switches then to Ellie and what she goes through to try to catch up with them before they leave...
Great that she meets up with  a chipmunk who does not know of the toy society but he knows of a mole that might be able to help out.
Mindy Mole knows about the toy society and offers their help....they locate Tammy the Train and with her help amazing things happen.
They run into problems with NO batteries for the train but Bluebell is nearby to help them. Everybody is so helpful!
Colorful sketches are included. Other plans to help them not raise suspicion as to how Ellie made it back as they don't know she's missing yet.
Ellie just wants to be in Janiece's bed  that night..
Book ends with about the author, listing of her works and how to contact her.

The Underground Toy Society and the Annual Toy Drive

The Underground Toy Society helps toys find new homes. Sometimes finding new homes is not easy. When Murry Mole takes a wrong turn and digs a tunnel to a toy store, they thought the toy bin would help toys find homes easier and faster. However, only new toys were allowed in the toy bin. How will forgotten toys find a home in time for Christmas?

MY REVIEW:

Moon-Force 1 by Janelle M. Adams
This book starts out with a link to the author's website and dedication and acknowledgment pages.
This book reminds me so much of the "we are heroes: because of the lead lady Mesa. She starts out as a young child and is raised by others and in time she meets her relatives.
She has more questions than answers. There is a lot of science fiction, space, magic, fantasy, travel and so much more for this story to be told.
Would make an awesome gift for boys or girls and it has something for everyone.
We get to watch as she grows older, into a teen and handles situations.

The Funny Foods Best Friends by Janiece E. Adams
This book starts with a dedication page and acknowledgements and how this book came about.
Listened to this book, am sure there are very colorful pictures in the book.
Story starts with Preppsie the Pizza was feeling sad. He wants a friend and is not sure how to get one. He's not a bad guy he tells himself.
He asks Mr. Sun to be his friend and that is out of the question because Mr. Sun can't even touch the ground.
A few flowers he almost walked into them and they don't walk to be his friend because he spilled pizza sauce on them.
Rolly the Orange then comes along and explains what being a friend means, you can't just ask if someone wants to be your friend.
He is the president of the friend finding community and has many from other food groups.
He follows Rolly and reads the sign of how to make friends.
They all decide on a new name for the group. Loved hearing about all the many good foods!
Next book mentioned is how they meet the Unicorns.
This is such a fun read, easy going and cheerful.
About the author is included at the end and how to contact her.

Meeting Grandmom

Jessica's two daughters, Janiece and Janelle, never met their grandmother. She had passed away when their mother and Aunt Jenny were just teenagers. Could Jessica's old toys from the past take Janiece and Janelle back in time to meet their grandmother?

MY REVIEW:

Meeting Grandmom
This book starts out with acknowledgements, dedication page then table of contents where chapters are listed.
Story starts out with Janelle and Janiece and they get permission to play with their mother's old toys.
When a loud crash outside occurs due to bad weather the girls get scared and bump heads and their toy car crash.
When they wake up they figure out where they are, their mothers old bedroom when she was a little girl. They go to try to find grandad...
Love what happens next as they realize they went back in time to when the grandparents were a lot younger. and they get to spend time with them and od things that most of us get to experience first hand.

The Underground Toy Society's Song Book

What is The Underground Toy Society?
The Underground Toy Society shares their theme song, oath, and poem in a short introduction of who they are and how they help toys, kids, and parents.

MY REVIEW:

The Underground Toy Society's Song Book (Paperback)

This books starts out with acknowledgments and dedication page.
Songs are also sung via youtube channel.
Each little song also shows a color picture of things that are talked about in the song verses.
Rhyming children's colorful book.  Has an oath with 4 guidelines, so cool!
Toy society also has its own  rhyming peom with colorful pictures.
Also verses about others in the books that help them along the way.

The Underground Toy Society Halloween Scare

The Underground Toy Society decided to go out on Halloween night to help lost, lonely, and forgotten toys. They ended up falling into a hole that did not belong to their friend Murry Mole, who helps them dig tunnels underground so they won't be seen by people. Will Murry Mole rescue the toys before they find out what is making a mysterious hissing sound?

MY REVIEW:

The Underground Toy Society Halloween Scare
The Underground Toy Society decided to go out on Halloween night to help lost, lonely, and forgotten toys. They ended up falling into a hole that did not belong to their friend Murry Mole, who helps them dig tunnels underground so they won't be seen by people. Will Murry Mole rescue the toys before they find out what is making a mysterious hissing sound?
This book starts out with acknowledgements and dedication page then the story.
It's Halloween and animals decide to go around the neighborhood and try to find toys that are not wanted anymore so they can given to others.
They all gather together, with no flashlight and fall down a hole. It's not Murry Moles' tunnel. They do see big yellow circles coming at them and get scared.
The toy snake assures them he's not scary and they follow him to Murry's where he knows of others who would love a snake as practical jokesters.
Problem is the mother opens the sack the snake is in. LOL
Really good deed in the long run.
Ends with about the author, other works and how to contact her.

Theft at the Fair by Gita V. Reddy
Enjoyed the stories in this collection. I realized the kids in them were just so smart and used mathematics in their favor.
Love how kids all stick together when they go places, in public. Lots of traditions of India and all the food, yum. Some words are explained when you come to them.
Plans are detailed and the clues all add up. I scratch my head at some of them but camels in the street are a familiar site there.

Saving Snow White (A Modern Day Fairy Tale) by Gita V. Reddy
What I like about this story is I expected more fantasy, and I don't really like that genre so was super happy to learn it's a down to earth read.
Follows lines of wick stepmother in real world. Little girl moves in with her aunt while her father travels for work and she tells him to get a new mom for her.
Lisa's other friends have similar situations and they found spouses that got along with whole family.
Problem is her father has some troubles and she now moves in with her stepmother and she's not a kind person and is very mean to her.
Cora has put mirrors in every room of the house and Lisa is upset her mothers desk with craft things are missing. Love when she finds some items that she can touch and remember the good times.
What happens then is crazy. She runs away with help from others and Cora has send out posters at train, bus stations, etc looking for her. Without the child she will lose everything.
She had drilled her on the correct answers when they would meet with the trustees. Out in the real world Lisa conforms to stay safe.
Never thought of the ending and love it so much. So much kindness and caring throughout the story, all the people from different backgrounds all come together.
Can't wait to read more along the theme of this one from the author.
Her other works are listed at the end and places to contact her.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.

Mystery of the Diamond Ring (Middle Grade Mystery Age 9-12) by Gita V. Reddy
This story starts out with Maya and she lives with her brother. Their parents are dead and the village takes care of them when needed.
She loves to grow their food in India and what they do for work fascinates me. They and two others in the village scour the shoreline every day after the tourists have left the area and pick up shells,  driftwood and other treasures.
They sell them to the curio shop where they make jewelry and other fancy things out of them and they pay the kids every week.
They have contests to see who will bring in the most money. It's usually Maya and she's the smart one. One day they find a bottle, with a newspaper ad  of a woman and a big diamond ring.
There are other clues that the kids follow up on. There is a pirate looking guy that visits and he's looking for one who speaks a certain language to help his friends sister.
The story at times is very scary even for me and they all play a part in solving the mystery.
Such descriptions of the area, the ship, others they meet and things they do. Such torture also on young children.
Love the ending, didn't see it happening like that, whew. Other works by the author are highlighted at the end along with about the author. Indian words are also explained as you come across them in thes tory, also glossary of words at the very beginning.

A High Sierra Christmas by Mark Stephen Taylor
Wow what a story about the high sierra mountains and the story of Jeremiah Jackson.
So many details and descriptions of the area and the times, the basic things that you can always fall back on.
Learned so many things about Indians and the way of the world up on the mountain.
Love how the girl speaks to the bank robbers, never thought I'd see that happening. They even mention other trail blazers: Muir, etc.
How they have each others back is quite amazing and the animals that they have all learned from.

Daddy Donkey And His Little Son: A children's picture book about the unconditional love between a father and son - A perfect father's day gift for kids aged 3 to 8 (Animal Kingdom 1) by Vedika Agrawal
Colorful children's book about Daddy Donkey and his little son.
Name plate starts the book. Story starts with Louie the donkey and he's not like the others in the herd. When they are all out walking around Louie sees a little lion cub but the others tell him not to bother him and take thorns out as lions will eat them all.
Louie helps then waits with him for his family to come find him. After a while Louie brings him back to his farm and the cub makes a mess of things.
Cub is not eating grass like Louie so they travel to where the foxes live and grab some of their food. the cub has to roar to scare the foxes away.
Lion finds his cub and they leave. Foxes come to the farm and scare them all away into the jungle. Louie is not young and can't run anymore and stays behind in the jungle.
He gets a surprise and it revives him outlook. He puts a sign around Louie's neck as he had done to him when he was much younger.
Maze game is included, all about my dad page, and about the books in the series along with about the authors. and award page to fill out for best dad.
Cute story, very colorful.

The Tales of Peter the Pixie vol 1: New Friends by Gary Edward Gedall
I can see myself reading this to the grandkids at night as we all settle down to read.
It's so magical and fun and unpredictable with life lessons to learn about and traits.
Love them all but the one that stuck with me the most was the solstice festivities and the squirrel was too busy collecting nuts for the cold winter months.
He forgot he was to bring gifts for all and when the pixie shows up he grabs the two bags of nuts. Love what happens at the festival when he hands out his gifts.
After that feeling has settled he is then given his gifts and he is so alarmed at what is for him.
I can just imagine the look on his face. Like other lessons learned and how pixie helps many others along the way, even asking for help when all else fails.
He had lessons to learn also and he passes them along after he has achieved them.
The stories are so descriptive to the point they'd make perfect movies because the scenes are already written out for the production. So precise in details.
Love how Peter reacts to a lot of new friends as time goes along.
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

Meeting Up With the Camp Counselor by Cheri Swalwell
Cute short story about Maria who's looking out for her goals to work at nearby National Forest.
Jeremey runs a meet group pirate themed camp and Maria's brother is part of that.
Love hearing about the uncommon meeting and how things progress. They are able tos pend time together and they build a friendship.
Love the search and rescue dog and events leading up to when he's called for service.
So many funny scenes, makes this a super fun book to read. Comical at times, be prepared to laugh.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
