Fortunate Son: A Novel of the Greatest Trial in Irish History by David Marlett
Starts with dedication pages and thanks.
Have been reading a few indenture books lately and this one lines right up with the things I've learned. There are so many more things the characters sees and tells you about.
Love the JFK connection, fun learning about it along the way.
Court trials and how they worked back then was amazingly fast.
James birthright was taken from him by an uncle til he returns to Ireland to claim it himself and he has proof.
Love hearing about the arrival to US and things he does over the years to pay back his charges.
Some along the journey did not fare as well. Author made this a fun history read with drama included.
Received this review copy from The Story Plant and this is my honest opinion.
The Goodbye (The Seaside Saga Book 16) by Joanne DeMaio
Like this book for the new words I'm learning, the new locations the characters visit and the old ones revisited.
More secrets come out from many sources and some don't like the way things are going and try to change them....
Love scene in Maine where he puts the waitress in her place: forceful but not threatening, she gets it!
Renovations and things really happen. Can't wait to see the creation Maris is designing. Love excerpts from Neil's journal, so precious.
So many gems in this one, see how many treasures you can find.
Love all the situations and how they survive the difficult ones and work around the others.
Laugh, cry, emotional times, thought provoking as things are disclosed from 10 years prior. Pieces are fitting together nicely.

American Red by David Marlett
Fascinating story of not only the west but the miners and the unions. Trains were the mode of transportation back in early 1900's and some control what schedules and locations of the different trains.
After the death of many miners and the court trial where nobody is to blame and no benefits for widows and children, others become concerned and track down, with clues, those who are the culprits.
The Pinkertons are also involved in the clues along the way. Fast paced, many mysteries and you wonder at some point how everything is connected...
Lots of characters and there are some very colorful ones that bring a smile to your face.
Like the aftermath and where everybody is and what happened to them, history of the people involved and the fake ones that really help make this a worthwhile story to read.
Acknowledgement and about the author are included at the end.
Murder at Beacon Rock by Alyssa Maxwell
Note from the author about how publishing company was sympathetic to her family and length of time to took to bring this book to light.
Fascinating tale of 1900's in historic Newport, RI, I live down the other end of the island and the author has a way to make history interesting.
This story is about Emma the newspaper reporter and she's engaged to Derrick and they spend time at friend’s house while men separate to discuss the America's Cup races and sailing.
They are gathering facts about others who might've known the woman that was found dead on the rock. They even travel to Long Island, NY and visit relatives at the same time while discovering more clues.
She is lured to the boathouse when Lucy summons her. She is caught and not sure how to get out of trouble and turn the killer over to the police.
Love the streets That I have driven on, Reading Room mention where my brother in law has worked in the past summers, ferry rides, America's cup and sailing and scenes described to perfection.
Scary at times, romantic at others, fashion, house adornments, photography techniques, sailing techniques, mysterious events and she knows ti won't be much longer...
Love this series and can't wait to read more. I never guess right who the culprit is...
Love the notes at the end of the book describing things you may have questions about and other mysteries to this day still unresolved.
A KEEPER!

A Judge's Secrets (STEALTH: Shadow Team Book 3) by Danica Winters
Book starts right in with action and adventure as the judges are hearing cases and making decisions.
Story follows Judge Natalie and she's spent time with Judge Hanes as they talk over their trials.
Story also follows Evan who's come to be a bodyguard and protector for Judge Hanes as he's been threatened.
Problem is in front of their eyes he is killed and he takes on protecting Judge Natalie.
She gets that this is a real thing when her car blows up. He is able to take her to a safe location and I love the mother who tends to them.
They try to figure out the clues that are there and to find out who's the culprit.
The Stealth agency is going to aid them in demolishing the bomb and with internal information to find clues as to the decisions made at the court house.
The two become so close but she backs away in time as he also realizes he needs his head in the game to solve who's trying to kill her and others.
So many actions scenes and being in harm’s way. You wonder not only if they will survive after so many attempts but will their relationship survive as well.
This one had me at the edge of my seat. can't wait to read another in this series.
Remarkably Bright Creatures
Story has many chapters of different people.
First is the woman who takes care of the aquarium at night and also has knitting buddies. This part I like the best because I am a knitter also.
Love the times they spend with one another. There are many others that make an appearance.
Another person that is followed by alternating chapters is Cameron, He's left his aunts house in CA and heads to WA where he hopes to meet his fathe
Story also follows a thinking octopus that is measured in days of his life as they don't live forever. He escapes the cages and finds shiny things on floors that he collects.
Feel like I got three diffferent stories in this one book, although they are all connected.
I like the older woman story but the ohters not so much.
Romance Stories To Cherish Volume Two by Josie Riviera
This bundle includes three stories from the author.
...
A Christmas Puppy to Cherish by Josie Riviera
Story starts out with Max and he's returned after 30 years to stay in Cherish for a month til his job starts after the holidays.
He has a lot of past to deal with having grown up in foster homes, some good but most bad ones.
He heads to music store and is able to buy a replacement harmonica and after speaking to the shop owner he is looking for a guide hiking to show him the sights.
She knows Sarah will be the perfect one as she also loves to hike and be outside-he runs the flower shop there.
They get along just fine, having so many of the same things in common. Love the bear and how she wards off an attack while they are hiking.
Love hearing about all the animals, birds, dogs, etc throughout the book as well as proverbs quoted and scriptures.
Sarah is holding a medical secret to herself and I love the Christmas gift she gives herself and others in turn.
Lack of communication will not allow them to stay together.... Amazing what one puppy can do.
Love hiking ornament, so precious!
...
A Homecoming To Cherish by Josie Riviera
This story starts out with Nora and she's just arrived at the Inn where her daughter Samantha and her will be living for months to run the Inn while the owner recuperates.
We learn a lot about Nora and Samantha and their thoughts on a lot of different subjects. The one I am interested in are the ones about God. Nora has lost all hope to reaching out to God.
She meets Julian at the Inn while waitressing and doing other jobs. They form a friendship and we learn about how his past has brought him to rely on God.
Like hearing the scriptures verses throughout. Nora feels she's getting too close and God hasn't answered her yet and she wants to leave to head back to VA and her job.
Sam has started to make friends and is cheerful again about life and learning about God from others.
It's a wonder they don't split and leave the Inn with those running it.....
Enjoyed the read because it's about a woman over 30 and she has raised her daughter by herself.
...
A Summer to Cherish by Josie Riviera
Book starts out with praise from others. Each chapter starts out with a quote from a famous person.
Story starts with Ashley and she lives in South Carolina. Love that she's a gardener and working with her hands.
She also teaches handicapped children. The man in the story is David. He's an artist and he's going blind but he tries to make things work, just a bit different.
He donated a lot of his paintings to others and so many have never been shown in a gallery. Love hearing about his eye condition.
He has to end it with her after spending days together doing fun things outside. She tries to get him to bring God into his life again.
She's not been honest with him and hides much and you wonder if they will ever get back together again.
Love hearing of the sign language and how others are able to deal with their disabilities.
Bonus recipe included at the end. Notes from the author are included at the end also.
Other works are listed at the end along with an excerpt.
Flowers in the Snow: A Novel of Family and Frost by Peter Murphy
story of Gloria who has a family and her child, Jake dies. The siblings live nearby and they have a variety of careers.
Love the winter and how it heals Glorias' pain.
Her daughter, Mary lives with her now and she fears for Gloria's health.
Love hearing all the problems everyone has, their careers and what family means to them.
They are able to put plans in place to make it a family affair and she is so surprised.
Others are surprised also by the gift from their father at Christmas.
Received this review copy from The Story Plant and this is my honest opinion.

She just wants to marry him and then the mother in law will find her own place. She likes taking double sleeping pills to help get through the holidays, so she can sleep.
There are many verses quoted from the Bible. Her niece also has problems and calls her for help.
Wonder how things will really work out if anything will. Priest steps in to aid them all in prayers.

CHILDRENS BOOKS
The Hat Lady and her Animals (Picture Books for Kids) by Gita V. Reddy
Colorful children's book.
This book could be about me because I do knit for others heads and usually have leftovers. Just finished reading a book about crocheting and knitting small tiny animals.
Starts out with colorful pictures showing what the words are saying below.
The shelf is lined with her creations, so imaginative. They each have their own names also and they are made in pairs, usually a big one and a smaller one.
When she adds a single dog they ask others to play a game but most ignore them.
The animals talk among themselves and explain how things are there on the shelf.
Tragic events when he falls into the bag of hats she's delivering to those in need. He can't get back out!
Love what happens to them.....good deeds.
I Spy Animals: A Fun Guessing Game Picture Book for Kids Ages 2-5 ( Picture Puzzle Book for Kids ) (I Spy Books for Kids 1) by Alek Malkovich
Colorful children's guessing book. Each letter of the alphabet has it's own page. It shows a lot of animals with the letter. You have child pick out the ones that start with that letter, they can name all of them to make it a fun game.
Next pages show the letter and the animal that corresponds to the beginning of the word.
Like letter Y the best because it shows the lobster, my favorite.
Really cool book, so many ways to play games, colors, pictures, animals and the letters.
Book wants you to be happy with who you are and NOT try to change yourself. We are all special and unique in our own way.
This story is about a Giraffe who feels as if they don't fit in and they stick out in wrong places. He tries to be like other animals and be their friend by doing things they do: hyenas, monkeys cheetahs, ostriches, elephants, rhinos, flamingos, .
He gets an invite to a party and others tell him not to try so hard. Magic happens at the party and the giraffe is himself.
Colorful children's story and I like that there are many animals, some kids might not be familiar with.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.
Look at Me I'm going to Spain!: A Bilingual Adventure! (Look at Me I'm Learning) by Daniel Williamson
What I like about this book is that the first sentences are in English and the translation into Spanish are right below that.
Pictures also show what's going on. So many things to do in Spain, fun things. Places to go, foods they eat, and things they see. How they dance, art work at museums, there is so much to see there and enjoy.
Author makes this a fun read where everybody is always smiling. End of the book summarizes everything they saw and did and visited. He can't decide what the likes best.
Other works by the author are listed at the end with a message from the author.
Enjoyable read.
Dedication page. Colorful, children's book. They are able to visit the zoo and see a lot of different animals.
Even enlarged the print is still too small for me to read it comfortably. About the author is listed at the end.
Hard book for me to read as I've lost my mother and treasure everything she did with me.
This story starts out where the little boy just doesn't want to go to sleep. Pictures are on the dark side with black lettering, hard to see. Story is good. He tries many different things that pop up in his head to help him get to sleep.
