The Dressmaker's Christmas by Eliza Lawley
Story starts out with dedication and other works by the author.
1875 in London and a newborn little girl is being dropped off at a workhouse as she knows she can not even take care of her herself.
Dorothy Lewis is so terrified for her daughter and herself as she leaves.
The women who took her in hurries to her sisters and given them the child. As long as there is no other child in the house she is adored by both husband and wife.
When they have Daisy, Holly is forgotten about, to the point where the wife turns her out of her room to make a playroom for the youngest and puts Holly in with the maids.
So many bad things happen to her but she's strong enough to understand them as she drops a plate of glasses she is serving at Christmas and the wife throws her out of the house.
Holly just wants to die but a man finds her on the London Bridge and delivers her to the dressmaker's shop who takes her in, teaches her the trade and lives with her.
Interesting how she came to meet Thomas and how he is then turned out of his house.
Love how it all ends up, locket is so precious.
