Some books are never published but given as  a gift from authors:

The Disappearance of Miss Phoebe Hewlett by Hannah Bryon
Story starts out with a quote then the Lynches are having dinner and there is a knock on the door.
Thaddeus is a police officer and he is summoned to go get clues as to the missing young lady. Her parents are away and the servants are worried...
Imogene tries to hear the conversation and she loves a good mystery. The next day she's on her way to the library where she meets with the librarian and asks her questions of those who would be involved. in the disappearance.
The young man is to wed the young woman and she learns of the family's estates.  Upon arriving to meet her spouse for lunch there are others there in a line trying to find some clues walking side by side with one another.
As the clues come in the story behind the young girl’s disappearance take on a different  course.  When a ladies shoe is found in the water things really heat up.
Like this story because they give you enough clues but learn the whole background as the story goes on. Love the saying at the end, if the shoe fits...
Light read and not bloody or gory.
Excerpt from The Highland Raven, a historic book from the author is included at the end and about the author and her works are included.
Enjoy these mysteries.

Glee's Gift by Cheryl Bolen
This story is about Glee when she was just a young girl. Her older brother didn't want her to come along as it was a boys only outing.
His friend Blanks not only gave her his gloves to wear but stood up for her. Story goes on over the years and he always just wanted graditude and she came up with an idea for a Chrimstas gift.
Cute story. Other works relating to this story are summarized at the end and listed in the series.
