Book Spotlight: Take Me Please, Cowboy (The 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo, Book 1) by Jane Porter

ABOUT THE BOOK:

Anything can happen at Marietta’s 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo.

Ansley Campbell is used to being the only daughter in a family of overbearing men. When her cranky, ailing uncle at Cold Canyon Ranch needs someone to help care for him, Ansley is volunteered against her will. As a self-taught artist, her family has never taken her seriously and assumes she’s always available. Ansley dreams of opening her own gallery one day, maybe even in Marietta. But her plans are thrown off course when she meets Rye Calhoun.

Professional rodeo cowboy Rye is a confirmed bachelor, but he may have finally met his match in beautiful Ansley. After the rodeo ends, Rye’s determined to take Ansley with him—after a trip to the altar, of course.

Despite the intense sparks, Ansley is resolved to keep her distance. Marriage and babies are the last thing on her mind, even if it would be with the most irresistible man she’s ever met. Rye’s never encountered a challenge he couldn’t win, but convincing Ansley to be with him is proving to be the hardest one yet.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Born in Visalia, California, I'm a small town girl at heart. I love central California's golden foothills, oak trees, and the miles of farmland. In my mind, there's nothing sweeter in the world than the heady fragrance of orange blossoms on a sultry summer night.

As a little girl I spent hours on my bed, staring out the window, dreaming of far off places, fearless knights, and happy-ever-after endings. In my imagination I was never the geeky bookworm with the thick coke-bottle glasses, but a princess, a magical fairy, a Joan-of-Arc crusader.

My parents fed my imagination by taking our family to Europe for a year when I was thirteen. The year away changed me (I wasn't a geek for once!) and overseas I discovered a huge and wonderful world with different cultures and customs. I loved everything about Europe, but felt especially passionate about Italy and those gorgeous Italian men (no wonder my first very Presents hero was Italian).

I confess, after that incredible year in Europe, the travel bug bit, and bit hard. I spent much of my high school and college years abroad, studying in South Africa, Japan and Ireland. South Africa remains a country of my heart, the people, the land and politics complex and heart-wrenching.

After my years of traveling and studying I had to settle down and earn a living. With my Bachelors degree from UCLA in American Studies, a program that combines American literature and American history, I've worked in sales and marketing, as well as a director of a non-profit foundation. Later I earned my Masters in Writing from the University of San Francisco and taught jr. high and high school English.

I now live in Seattle and Hawaii with my three sons. I never mind a rainy day, either, because that's when I sit at my desk and write stories about far-away places, fascinating people, and most importantly of all, love. I like a story with a happy ending. We all do.

MY REVIEW:
Take Me Please, Cowboy (The 85th Copper Mountain Rodeo, #1) by Jane Porter
Story starts with a note from the author, a dedication page.
Rye is on his way to the rodeo (to compete and earn money for the family) when he truck overheats so he rests by the side of the road after checking on his horses. He is a roofer by trade and runs the family’s business. With helping the girls to get college educations he's frazzled. He is there for all of them financially and with moral support.
Jackson pulls up and offers help but Rye can only see the blonde woman in the truck... So much character development in this story, love getting to know the characters past and present lives.
Story also follows Ansley, a painter and works at her uncles barn while tending to his needs as he's frail now.
Their paths cross again during events for the 85th rodeo and they share some time together. She agrees to go to the rodeo to cheer him on.
To her Rye is the salt of the earth because of everything he does for everybody else but himself.
At times I had tears in the corners of my eyes because the dialogue is threatening to break them up, they may not have a choice together.  Communication is key, listen…
Love how she is able to grow with her career. Ends with a note from the author how this new series has started and who it involved.  Many more books will be coming out. Love hearing of the events and how the rodeo works. Love that everyone can share time to help others, that’s what neighbors do.
Author throws her heart into this one. Love older set of people in this story also and follow their well being and health and how it all synchs.
A KEEPER!
Received this review copy from the publisher and this is my honest opinion.
