The Women by Kristin Hannah
This story hit home with me. I recall sitting with my brother and his friends as they listened to the radio where they were drawing dates and if you date came up you were going to be drafted. Didn't realize what this all was about as I was only 12. This book opened my eyes to so much.
Story starts out with the party for her brother as he’s heading to fight a war in Vietnam. We soon learn of her social life and how it makes her think that she can help in her own way.
She becomes a combat nurse and is in the swing of things, in th emiddle of the war. She has two other besties, Ethel and ..... who bail her out from time to time. She has some romances but she meets her brothers best friend Rye there also. She knows he's NOT engaged.
As she extends her tour she does make it back after we learn how she was kept busy with the villages and men who came in wounded. Back in the US she was not treated as a returning veteran. Also she did not see combat she suffered what the soldier had experienced first hand.
Her life is a mess and she tries many different things, just not being herself. Her mother helps with pills but that doesn't work either. Through more difficult times for her she finally comes out of her misery with help and rehab and love how it all turns out. SO many secrets and she was just naive, to even see what was right in front of her.
Very hard book for me to read, had tears in my eyes at many times when I'd recall my brothers and his friends that didn't get to go there.

The Accidental Crush by Mia Heintzelman
This story starts out with Dante and he's rushing from his bed to the board meeting. The family has done it again, moved on without him and they control the outcome. His mother listens and he has a bit of time to show them how the company can make a profit again at the vineyard and the lands surrounding it. He's got his work cut out for him.
Story also follows Morgan who has a business that prospers because she can see things down the road. Her group fo girls head out for a girls weekend and she's off to the side, on her phone doing business. Dante catches her and they head out to the vineyard where there is a romantic setting waiting for them.
With her knowledge she knows she can produce a super plan for the family because she's listened to Dante talk about the family and generations of family who worked the lands.
Very descriptive details and such funny laugh out loud moments when Dante catches a few phrases of the girls notes to Morgan. All she can do is blush.
She heads back for a week to work exclusively on his plan but after they walk in on a family birthday party and Dante wasn't invited she sees what's right in front of her eyes and tells Dante. He gets upset with her and you know they were just not meant to be a couple...Like where this story takes you. Steamy adult scenes.

Love how this book starts out: traveling by ferry to visit his grandparents. We learn more about why Darwin is there and what paths he chooses. Love the explorations of the past when he roamed the area with his friend. The caves have me fascinated as he shows some of the caves to the movie director, Choloe who is filming a documentary.
Adult situations. Some scary moments with sharks and seals. What they find is amazing! Love history involved in this novel. Details and descriptions make you feel as if you are there. Some moments where I started breathing more heavily while under the water heading towards to light...
Excerpt picks up with Darwin has aged 10 more years, finishing his degree. Love Roman parts that help explain what happened in their era.
He's in Iceland now on a new expedition. Story of 54C. contintes to help explain this story.
Something for everyone.
This story starts out with Dylan and he rides in the rodeo. He trains a lot of the riders til one died. He is haunted by the boys death.
Story also follows Leann who's a rider. He gets to train her also but she wants the big bulls that the men ride.
Through the rodeos we learn about their lifes and travel and competing.
He tells her about his dreams of running a bull rehab ranch, a place where bulls can go to die a natural death. He gets promotions along the way but also loses his job.
They are dating but in different locations. Lots of adult situations. Like the conflicts among the bull riders and how it's resolved.
Can't image these two getting together again.
Great read, entertaining.

Like how this book starts out: he follows her into the building and proceeds to her office. He confronts her that he owes her brothers and he will pay them back by watching the family business and her and her younger brother. This is during the summer of 1942 in Brooklyn, NY. She is a private investigator and they have a case already. Good thing he's an ex cop as he has resources to help them locate the facts about what happened. Learned so much from what he's teaching her, just even about her surroundings, being aware of things, smells, sounds, etc.
Many people from all walks of life are helping them add up the clues for their client. Sometimes their lives are in danger and they are beaten up. Love how the clues add up and they figure out who's the culprit. Like ending and can't wait to read more from this author. Great descriptions and I feel as if I was in room with them at times.
Especially like the priest and the boxing arena and those involved in helping Mauve learn more defensive skills.

Lucky Strike by Janine Amesta
In this book we find Sam and he runs his fathers investment properties. He's in charge of renting out units and fixing things when they break. He met Luna and her friend Mia as she staged a photo shoot at the park. He is surprised when Luna gives him a kiss meant for his cheek but he missed and got his lips instead.
Much later Luna is loking for an apartment and Sam is the one renting it out. She gets him to agree to many things but he is so enthralled with her he agrees to it all.
Love how she upcycles things to make the place her home.
He helps wth the improvements and also informs his father as to how they can make things nicer at the properties.
The couple break up and she tries to make amends to others she wronged over the years. Sam is also tending to his past...
His mother has something to say about Luna...
Lots of heavy steamy adult situations.
First time author for me, would like to read more fo their works, entertaining.

Collection of 7 stories surrounding the Green Pines Community with glimpses of how the community comes together to celebrate. Not all holidays go according to plan. Some are super gay and traditional and some are super sad and tragic.
Such loving, fun, entertaining, in depth details and descriptions along with scriptures from the Bible. After each segment you are given a book title to read further into the subject brought up in the book.
What I love most is the love the characters have for one another and how they are willing to drop whatever they are doing to help others. There is so much giving in these books. Can’t wait to read more from this author. Links to inspirational messages daily is included along with authors podcasts.

FDR Unmasked: 73 Years of Medical Cover-ups That Rewrote History by Steven Lomazow
Very entertaining book. The story is put together with resources of books along with diarie entries.
Was hoping to hear my uncles name in this book as he worked for FDR in the secret service. before he retired in Maine.
Fascinating parts were the glimpses into Newport Naval Base, National Parks, CCC and New deal which we should look into implementing again.
There is so much about this president from his young years til after his death. Love the wife's diaries as we get to hear her side of the story as well.
Feared I'd fall asleep reading this but that is not the case at all.
There are politics included also but not enough to bore you.
Author hopes this selection will help you see what really happened with President Roosevelt. Very Detailed descriptions. Cool hearing the ailments of today were in our world back then.

Killer Close to Home by Carol Light
Wasn't sure I would like this story but I love it.
Starts out with Roscoe and he's being taken care of with an adult male nurse that sometimes spends the night. Crys from next door is packing up his dishes as he will be moving to an assisted living facility. He has a big meeting with the others in the family and informs them of who is getting money and why and who is not...Later that night there is an explosion of sorts.... Things, strange thing show up at their door and they try to figure things out.
Love hearing how they lock down their house, put cameras up, go over fire escape measures with the kids and so much more.
Very descriptive details and like how she snoops around to find more clues as to the packages and now graffiti on their house. Other death threats come to their house...
Love how Crys is an organizer and takes on more jobs and how she goes about getting rid of others clutter.
I never guess who the culprit is but really enjoy the read. So much helpful information.
Can't wait to read more from this author.

Losing My Breath by J Rose Black
Story starts out with Callan who had missions with the Marines that he keeps getting flashes of in the real world. He gets a new neighbor, Merridian and she has NO idea what effect he has on her. Love especially the time they spend together as he tries to analyze her and he starts to see her point of view on various subjects.
Lots of twist sand turns and fantasizing.
Love the moments when he recalls the missions and what sets him off and how he handles the hard times. Love hearing of how he tolerates his PTS and the times he helps others out with intel and just takes care of the nuisances surrounding the complex. Watching for signs, being very aware of things is something we all need to concentrate more on.
Really enjoyed this read and can't wait to read more from the author.

Winter’s Kiss by Marin Thomas
Ava works at the local hotel, Graff Hotel where they also have entertainment, shows, events, etc. She is just a maid but has the chance to work with others and their help to make a co op work for the whole town.
Lucas comes to town from CA on a business venture. He's just found his real father after his mother had passed away. Following the notes she wrote he hopes to connect with others in town that had met his mother.
At first sight he is really taken with her and learns of her daughter.
They spend more time together along with Ava's mother in law. Lucas's father shows up to make amends, Roger. The girls love him and all he stands for.
After the holidays Lucas leaves to tend to business in CA leaving Ava and Sophie by themselves.
So sad and you wonder if they will ever get back together.
Never saw the ending as it is, LOVE it. Excerpt in next title is also included at the end.
Especially love donations to the library and all work women do as a group with day care built in to help one another.

The Most Popular President Who Ever Lived by Nancy Omeara
Like many of the concepts in this book because I can see how they would work, and would be worthwhile.
Especially like CJ and The Big B projects. Love analytical data and results. Why not use a database of sorts of where some town solved the rotary problem in their own town. It could help other tows with the same traffic issues they are having.
Very interesting and entraining read, something for everyone in this book.
Wish some of these concepts would come to fruition in our lifetimes.

Love theme of this book, to stop environmental destruction.
Animals featured and the locations show you where things need to be improved upon.
Like bright colorful maps that show exactly where the animal in question lives.
Words on the page are shown to me in boxes that sit on top of the graphics.
Azul takes the hat from a man, not knowing the danger then gust of wind comes and he follows it to a new location, one he was NOT familiar with at all.
Alfie the gray parrot is nearby and helps to make the man not cut the trees down.
Love how the author teaches you things about the two parrots as they are talking to one another. Such informational material. They find nuts but there is not much there any more.
There are examples of things people can do to conserve and protect what land is here.
Ends with about the author and illustrator.
Such a worldly worthy read for everyone to enjoy.
