Homesteading for Backyard Beginners: A Quick-Start Budget-Friendly Guide to Growing Your Own Food, Raising Healthy Chickens, and Living Self-Sufficiently in Just 1 Hour a Day
by Harriet C. Bloom
Book starts out with intro where the whole concept is explained.
There are pictures scattered throughout the book, before and after type and other methods of doing things.
So many helpful charts that explain how much space you will need depending on if you want a fruit garden or vegetable and other things like trees and livestock.
Building a toolkit is important so you will use it daily in your homestead.
Love the idea of swapping seeds with others in the neighborhood.
There are worksheets to help you along the way, so you don't overdo things.  There is so much helpful information: gardening, making soap, crafts, rainwater, composting and also includes references at the end.  SO much to learn about.
Have done many throughout my lifetime, along with my mother. making candles, rugs from clothes, etc.
