Book Review: Stories by Gita V. Reddy
The Girl from Trichy by Gita V. Reddy
Liked this story from the very beginning because she stood up for herself. She was able to gain help from her boss to keep her on although the HR didn't want to hire her.
HR also later tries to get her fired because of her dress code-the company had non and HR tried to say it was her boss that came up with the decision. Others in the office tell her otherwise.
She adapts and is happy with her work but her relatives want her to get married. After her boss leaves to go to the US for work she stays with her team for another year.
When he returns he finds her gone and asks others about her. He recalls when he had first seen her when they meet up again....
Found some words hard to understand and follow along at times and glad the author will add a glossary.
Enjoyed the story about India and customs and same problems we have here in US are what occurs there as well.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
The Mishti Doi Bride by Gita V. Reddy
Story starts with Uma and she works in the city and travels home late.
She often will have males try to trick her into believing they want to date her.
She had told her girl friend to just tell them the parents won't let her date unless the man wants to marry her.
When Sandeep shares a ride to the train and the next day back to the train she thinks he is up to something.
They do spend time together and her mother comes to learn more about him than she as she had told Sandeep she'd only date him if he wanted to marry her..
She doubts him and you wonder if she will learn the truth about the relationship over time.
Enjoyed this story as it taught me some things I did not know about India and customs and work ethnics.
Received this review copy from the author and this is my honest opinion.
