Book Spot light: Royal Reversal by Shanelle Goldiene

SYNOPSIS::

There are no princesses on a chessboard.
There are only pawns …
… but queens can move however they please.

Following the assassination of Princess Adelaide Whyndam, the royal monarchy has a choice to make. They can either reveal to the public that the heir to the throne is deceased, thereby admitting their military weakness, or they can claim that Princess Adelaide has thwarted her would-be attacker and made a miraculous recovery—an impossible feat without a suitable replacement for the princess.

Enter Adalia Lockwood, Adelaide’s identical twin sister. Raised in secrecy on a country estate by her governess Jacinta and her husband Giles, 17-year-old Adalia knows nothing of her relation to the crown. When Queen Celine and King Cassian reveal her true lineage, Adalia learns she must step into her sister’s shoes.

Suddenly entangled in a dangerous world of political intrigue, death threats, betrothals, and forbidden romance, the new Princess Adelaide realizes that becoming a royal has a steep learning curve.

In ROYAL REVERSAL, the first installment of the new royal romance series by Shanelle Goldiene, you are cordially invited to the riveting world of Pembroke Palace.

MY REVIEW:

Royal Reversal by Shanelle Goldiene
Not my typical genre but I love this new author and can't wait to read more of her works.
Almost like a fairy tale but the young woman is so mature it didn't come across as a 17 year old coming of age.
Story starts out with the backstory and we start hearing of how she is now a princess and why. So many hidden secrets come to light and some are not revealed yet...
Like the analogy between a princess and chess.   Love learning about palace life and the obstacles Adalia has to overcome.
Adalia, known as Adelaide now is very keen, noticing things I would not have seen and putting the pieces together of other mysteries surrounding her new life.
She is being forced to take over where her twin sister left off when she was killed... She has help from her governess to learn about her sisters' life and many maids.
She trusts so many til she learns the truth about them. She was in love with many of them. Love when she learns of the letters her sister had written to others and plots to overtake comes to light.
Exquisite details of not only fashion, hairdo's but the jewelry. I can see the jewels sparkle in my mind.
Big turmoil comes to the palace after a big announcement and her life is in danger as her guards. Love the hidden passageways. So sad to those who had helped fight til the very end to keep others safe from harm.
Her solution to oust those who had betrayed her come to a head.
Love ending and twists in this book, SO unpredictable.
Mystery, romance, palace life, suspense, jewels and fashion, treaty that changes everything, keeping safe and alive...
Can't wait to read from this series.  One of my top favorite books for this month.
