Year of Wonders  by Geraldine Brooks
1666 This story is about Anna who lives through her spouse dying, he was a miner. She tends to two small boys, one is still nursing.
She takes in a boarder who is  a marvel with the boys and keeps them occupied and happy. He comes down with a virus = the plague and dies.
She serves at big dinner parties and also takes care of housekeeping at the pastor's house. She's friends with his wife.
Another sends her a sachet of contents to  help aid the one sick. She takes care to get rid of items others used that might carry the disease, burns them.
Love the time they spend actually in the mine working, figuring things out, collecting data of ages that died, those that survived and what to do about it.
Like how this ends, didn't see it happening. Foreword by the author and she explains how this book came about and how others helped with their knowledg.e
Bit of adult situations.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).
