An Insider's Guide to Rome: Discover Ancient Ruins, Secret Underground Sites, Vatican City, Museums & the Locals' Favorite Cafés, Bars, Markets, Parks, Hotels and Restaurants (Insider Travel Series) by Marco Ryan
This book is not your typical tour guide book. There are certain ways to understand how to use it properly ma:ke sure you read the intro. There are many chapters that cater to accommodations hotel versus B&B etc, there are also sections for the best restaurants, the best shopping areas, the best gardens and sites to see. And so much more. The author explains some tips along the way that he has found are favorable to tourists. There is so much to see and do: make sure you understand a little bit about the language and are able to use if. Some tricky things are transportation not only trains but the metro, the airport, bikes, and taxis. Make sure you read these. I like the section about the underground Rome and the gardens and all the catholic (castles) churches that are available to the public. There are links in the text that you can click on and QR Codes so you can see what else you need to learn about. Especially like the chapter on photographing things.  There is a list of things you can bring and should bring and there's a list of things that you should not bring with you at all. It explains about the best pictures you'll be able to take and the etiquette of not taking pictures of others etc.
References are included at the very end.
Lots of digital apps that are linked in the book, there are so many in every subject available.  Plan ahead with these apps.
Very useful reference book.
