Book Review: The 80th Birthday Trivia Book by Scott Matthews

The 80th Birthday Trivia Book by Scott Matthews
Like this book right from the start as it's tells you about trivia things from 40, 50, and 60's.
Kitchen is still our goto room in the house.
Bottled milk deliveries, don't think they are any left in our town any longer.
So many different categories to select from: tv shows, radio, history, gadgets, sports, retro toys and others. Each chapter has many trivia questions and each question has option of 4 multiple choice answers.
Love food and drink section as well.
The answers are included at the end of each chapter and explains more about the year the item came out or something else similar.
Super fun trivia night with the neighbors when we get together monthly.
Great memory book also.

Aug 28 Book Review: Chasing Carolina jessamine By Laurie Beach

Chasing Carolina Jessamine By Laurie Beach
This book starts out with Jessa and her best friend Gates had brought a newcomer to the island, He was very rich, his family was and he wanted to buy the winery where she worked. She had been raised to be beautiful and she was proud of it and decided it was time. She wanted to approach Mason and soon he asked her to be his boyfriend. In her milk door there are gifts left and she has no idea who they are from. Her lifetime friend Gates had always been there for her and her for him. Her best friend Brook had broken up with Gates but he's still around.
Jessa needs to know her father and does find out, as does the whole island.
Another matter is her sister Tootie, we find out about that also. Things are not as they seem.
What I love about this book is the tip for baked beans with a carrot, the name of the state flower, the island camp secret places, the food served and the relationships. Some people are rather quirky which makes it more the fun times with them. Love that there are many generations so the age range is from young to very old. Family is everything and Jessa finds that out, no matter who your parents are.
Received this review copy from the publisher and Booksprout and this is my honest opinion.

Aug 27 Book Review: Player Elimination by Shelly Jones

Player Elimination by Shelly Jones
Like this story because it's about a woman Wren who takes over the board game shop that she and her husband ran. He's now passed and she finds it hard to come up with new ideas. The local college is very helpful. She is able with help from the man upstairs, Charlie who works part time for the shop also chips in his ideas. Love the idea of having teens at a safe location to play and socialize with others.
The landlord comes in often and never fixes things, like air vents but she wants to buy the shop and land. She learns later that others want it also for their shops. With a murder the cops show up and ask all kinds of questions. Not able to pinpoint just one person. Like how neighboring shops lend a hand as she does when they need a hand themselves.
Love how those who do research at the college come up with newspapers of others who they didn't know were links to the case. Then another murder and things get grim. A local community want the shop closed and it has nothing to do with the business they run.
Amazing the facts they bring up after thinking for a while and connections. This all comes together nicely. Can't wait to read more from this author. Like the theme. Didn't think I would but I do. Love hearing of the cutires, the women behind her and each helping one another.
Received this review copy from Tule Publishing and this is my honest opinion.

Aug 26 Book Review: Murder at Arleigh by Alyssa Maxwell

Murder at Arleigh by Alyssa Maxwell
Leave reading about thee earlier times on the island. I live in southern portion and it's amazing how much I still learn about the whole island with every book I read.
This one starts out with Emma and she's been to the wedding of Reggie and hears all about his escapades. Bessie Lehr is upset, her husband she fears wants her dead so he can take over her inheritance. He has no money of his own and doesn't want to work.
Love the scene on the beach with boys being fished out. Love caves and tunnels where, in Portsmouth there were rum runners during the time frame.
Such scary situations Bessie finds herself in.
There are so many episodes of harm and even death to others that were meant for Bessie, or were they?
Love how Emma and Derek are able to gather clues and find out who's at fault. Jessie their friend also helps out as the police had finally been summoned. Love learning about how certain events are still ongoing today in Newport that generated from the early 1900's.
Love hearing more about the stables in Portsmouth and at the end what is at the location of this house now. Know friends who work there. Amazing how the author makes a full circle to the story. Easy to keep the characters straight and all scenes are described so you can picture  yourself in them. Glad baby was introduced to us, what a cutie!
Received this review copy from Kensington Publishing | Kensington via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

AUG 26 Book Review: Smuggler's Cove by Fern Michaels

Smuggler's Cove by Fern Michaels
This story starts out with Gwen and she grew up in CT, moved to NY when she finished school and took on small jobs, met others who they liked and roomed together saving money.
Story goes back in time to their relatives lives over the generations. We end up with Lincoln and Madison, brother and sister to Jackson. Notice the presidents names, it's a family thing.
After their father is taken away for financial fraud and locked up their mother takes care of them and as they are in boarding school directs them to get their belongings and where to go from there.
Love that we then follow their lives over the years and how they end up in unlce Kirby's marina in NJ.
Love the small facts about flounder, winter and summer, the ferry from NY to NJ, the locations, the travel and how to renovate a marina, clothing industry and so much more.
There is something for everyone in this book.
Quite the read how it all turns out, never saw it happening as it did.
Received this review copy from Kensington Publishing a via NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

Book Review: Murder in Retrograde by Greg Hickey

Murder in  Retrograde by Greg Hickey
Book starts out with detective Marcus Carver heading to CA to see about a case he might take on. It'd cover all his debts if he accepts it. He hears about the case from the client and proceeds to investigate. It's a rather simple operation and he has no problem doing the work, but there's more to the story.
Love setting with houses on the cliffs, only one way in, or so you think. Love the natural events that also take place while he takes on the other client. Between the gangs, the first client and the second he finds himself just on the verge of figuring it all out when someone is murdered. He consults the first client and finds out the truth.
What I like is the fast paced action and adventure and hwo things come to light and the clues he figures out and what they lead to.
Super descriptive, I can picture myself at the places that are described and even being in the car as it's near the cliffs, reminds of 101 in CA where at places there were NO guardrails when we went through.
Never saw ending but it was a good one!
Entertaining, enjoyable and so much to the story.

AI Essentials for Beginners: Discover the Power of ChatGPT, Generative AI & Machine Learning to Save Time, Unlock Creative Potential & Boost Productivity, Even if You’re Tech-Challenged by Elaine J. Kramer EdD
This is the best book I've read on AI because it actually has examples that do work and they are so practical. Just trying out the meal for the week. If you want changes suggest a certain dish and they make the change. Then ask it for a shopping list of what you would need, Compare it to what you already have and there's your final list.
Good thing is you don't have to cook the meal for Monday on Monday.
There are many other examples given, some data, some financial and other aspects and it matches them to the right AI program you should be using. Some AI is better for some subjects than others. We know just asked Alexa and Siri what they are capable of doing for us on a daily basis.
References are included at the end.
SUPER reference book, keep this one handy and do use it!

Book Review: STARLIGHT VOYAGERS: Glimmerforge - The Ruby Inferno by Jeff Eland

STARLIGHT VOYAGERS: Glimmerforge - The Ruby Inferno by Jeff Eland
Like this book because it's about crystals and I have a few myself. Like the mysteries behind what's going on with the dragons that were on the planet to help. Now they are being used as slaves. When the team gets closer they realize there's more to picture than meets the eyes. Love how they are able to form a team of others who want to help and how they achieve doing things that matter. When a new obstacle arises they are able to figure out how to go around it to get to the solution of what they want to do.
 Good entertainment.
Great action packed science book.

Aug 7 Book Review: Five Alarm Love by Jillian David

Five Alarm Love by  Jillian David
Love this series because I've read it from the beginning and can follow along with updates of the mineral rights,  others who want to buy up the whole town, the people that work there and live there. Yukon Valley we find Lou and EMT and her partner Mav who also works at the deli. He's the most knowledgeable resident about all the rumors.
Story also follows Tuli. You and Tuli have grown up since grade school and they used to play house with the kids on the playground. He'd be the father and Lou would be the mom. Their dream was they'd marry and raise a family together soem day.
Adult situations and Tuli had taken a pic of Lou sleeping, just a head shot. At the fire separtment he left his phone while he used the bathroom and another who was out to get his job took the phone and posted the pic on social media. It all gets back to Lou and she drops him being her boyfriend.  Will they ever get back together now that they understand one another. She'd had a heart to heart about her inferitility issues and he was on board.
Great story about a native American and the reasons why they fought for their land.
Received this review copy from the publisher and Booksprout and this is my honest opinion.

Options Trading for Beginners: A Guide to Maximize Profits, Reduce Trading Risk and Mistakes, and Get Valuable Time Back in Your Daily Life by J Wood
What I like about this book is that it is for beginners. It starts you off with some terms used in the field and gets you familiar with them, giving you examples. Each chapter explains more about how to trade stock options. It allows you to select the brokerage firm you prefer to go with based on your ideals. It gives you the information but the decision is up to you after hearing which ones are better at some things vs. another.
Book also advances you to create an account, tells you where to go, how to fill inthe spots, etc. It aids you ins electing what type of stock you want to purchase.  Like the chapters on disappointment and how to handle it as not every stock will grant you a profit. Like towards the end it even has more advances procedures and strategies to help you make better choices.  References are included at the end.
Well rounded out book, great reference book.

Book Review: For Richer For Poorer by Danielle Steel

For Richer For Poorer by Danielle Steel
This story starts out with Eugenia and her life. She had married when young, had 5 children and her spouse was never around. She had kept them all afloat by working in her design shop. She did social and fashionable evening dresses. Since the pandemic nothing was selling. She kept the Hampton complex for the whole family to come and enjoy for a week each year.  One of her daughters is to be married so there are a lot of activity. She met Patrick and the whole family enjoys his yacht. His buildings have been vacant for years also but he's coming back to life after meeting Euguenia.  Love the talks they have with no other strings. Eugenia accepts money from an old well owner but Patrick alerts her to clauses she must have in the agreement. Will the wedding even happen?
With a hurricane coming and the birth of twins about to happen and there's no electricity. So much at stake... Then the fashion show with a new layout and then Paris for a few weeks.
I felt each child should've had their own book there is sto much about each one.
Super read, as always, can't wait for more.

Basic Generative AI: Beginner's Guide to Artificial Intelligence, ChatGPT and Machine Learning, Practical AI Applications by Freeman Publishing (
What I love about his book is the examples of how to actually do things with AI. There are many modes you can use and each platform has their own purpose.  Love that it gives you step by step instructions in how to set something up, with your own code in a safe area where nobody will steal it.
Have an idea of how to make some money with my idea and I'd be charge of all the marketing also. Lots of man hours behind the scenes. References are included.

Each of the categories are explaine in detail and there are lists of artists who have made it big by the same concepts in this book. Like the collaboration of the artists and their brands. Love quotes from song writers and authors of screenplays at the start of each chapter. Words of wisdom. Examples of services online and how to protect your work are also very helpful. Aug 11 Book Review: The Great Hunter by Kel Paisley

The Great Hunter by Kel Paisley
This book starts with the character names and how they are all related.
The story starts at the winter gathering of the tribes. The many traditions , customs and new alliances are discussed. Love how they all share things with e ach of the tribes. There are unspoken things also that come to light.  Love story as it's also about different generations of people and how they live and survive yearly. The young ones are now old enough to become warriors after training and maybe find a woman to marry.
Garetto's story focuses on the main part of this book. The struggles he faces when he wants to wed and can't understand why her father doesn't like him at all. He finally gets a challenge, to take down the big stag in the woods. He must travel far away and is up against foraging for food and fighting dark magic demons.
Had a hard time putting my chores down to read this one and want to find out what else the author has for me to read.
Descriptions are so precise and detailed, *I* was there with Garetto, seeing what he saw, smells, sounds and touching things.
Myths, legends, customs and traditions made this such a worthwhile read. it's the top book out of 200 I've read this year and will remain at very  top for this year. I think about it often during daily tasks and just sitting listening to the birds, remembering what type of birds he saw that talked to him. World builder top of the list for me also.
Glossary of words are listed at the end. Very helpful!
Something for everyone in this book, travel, action, adventure, quest, romance, traditions, etc You won’t be disappointed.

Book Review: Jargon-free Bitcoin for Beginners: A Step-by-Step Guide to Gain Confidence in Cryptocurrency, Avoid Mistakes, Invest Safely and Secure Your Financial Future by Alex Parker

Jargon-free Bitcoin for Beginners: A Step-by-Step Guide to Gain Confidence in  Cryptocurrency, Avoid Mistakes, Invest Safely and Secure Your Financial Future by Alex Parker
Tis book is very detailed in information. It starts with the history of how and why bitcoin was created, places where it's used esclusively and so much more.
It gives you the basics and yes even includes over the top things that you don't really need to know about but it's my money so yes i want to know about it all.
It explains how to keep things secure and using which email services and other companies to do so. It explains what type of wallets you can set up and for what reasons. each one has their own purpose.  I am quite familiar with the scheme as we have friends who are miners.  They try to keep government out of it but on latest IRS forms they ask how much you have invested-they do want a portion in taxes down the road I'm sure.
The steps to set up wallets and other things are very detailed, step by step process. Good start to learning about bitcoin.
