1904
The Walking Y by Jeter Isely
Enjoyed this westerns and it starts out with Woody who's trying to save the family ranch. The Senator next door is trying to buy it all up and run for governor. He acquires some orphans who enjoy the work on the ranch and being able to help Woody.
Twists and turns and some kids get captured and tortured in a sense, others have gotten shot. Love how it all ends and learned so many things about the wilderness that I hope to never have to use.
Story continues in the next book of the series.
