Book Review: Jargon-free Bitcoin for Beginners: A Step-by-Step Guide to Gain Confidence in Cryptocurrency, Avoid Mistakes, Invest Safely and Secure Your Financial Future by Alex Parker

Jargon-free Bitcoin for Beginners: A Step-by-Step Guide to Gain Confidence in  Cryptocurrency, Avoid Mistakes, Invest Safely and Secure Your Financial Future by Alex Parker
Tis book is very detailed in information. It starts with the history of how and why bitcoin was created, places where it's used esclusively and so much more.
It gives you the basics and yes even includes over the top things that you don't really need to know about but it's my money so yes i want to know about it all.
It explains how to keep things secure and using which email services and other companies to do so. It explains what type of wallets you can set up and for what reasons. each one has their own purpose.  I am quite familiar with the scheme as we have friends who are miners.  They try to keep government out of it but on latest IRS forms they ask how much you have invested-they do want a portion in taxes down the road I'm sure.
The steps to set up wallets and other things are very detailed, step by step process. Good start to learning about bitcoin.

The Call of Destiny by Hannah Byron

The Call of Destiny – Codename Violette by Hannah Bryon
Story follows two different sets of characters.
Albert and Sigal are from 2020's (covid throughout the world) and he is able to educate her about her past. She had gotten separated from her father when her parents divorced and he headed to US. Her mom remarried and they stayed in England area. She wants to lend her aide for SOE.

1930's Muriel  We find Codename Violette as she has gone through training and is ready to head to France to help with coding messages.  She has gotten a special compact from Maurice and keeps it with her always. They do meet up from time to time in France and he's proposed to her...
Story also follows Sigall's grandmother and Albert's grandfather during the war.

What I like about this book are the emotions that come through that eally make a difference to the story and plot. There are twists and turns during the war as they struggle to serve England by helping others in war torn countries.

Violette knows how to avoid the troops that could capture her, she changes her route daily.
Love how the whole lot of them are connected by blood.  At times it just didnt' seem possibl eto me. What  ag reat mystery and romantic story.

Descriptions are so detailed I can sense the calm while sitting near the stone wall looking at the water and birds are singing. To think they are within a mile of the war...
Love ending from the author and how she wrote the story and who is who. Love bonus chapters, brings the whole book together, past meets the future.

A Whisper of Summer Magic by Sinclair Jayne
This story starts out with the women and they are all gathered around and it lays out who is dating who, married to, etc.  G. Millie is heading to the hospital and the story picks up a month later. The women are all home bound to G. Millie's house.  One women is making a garden and plans to sell items, even growing olive trees for oils. Another is a lawyer and another an accountant. Chole is getting married and they go through the engagement party and everybody loves the groom.  Love hearing of the struggles, ussies with the estate and the solutions. Book mainly focuses on Chole and the girls inform her of her mother... What a bomb, never saw that coming.  Love how they handle it for the upcoming wedding. Other estate issues come to light and really upset Meghan and her relationship with Jackson, a family friend but more than that now, til it's not...
Love all the different relationships as each are going through different struggles. So interesting to hear how the book progresses forward.  Can't wait for the next book.

The Many Faces of Jesus: exploring the life and legacy through history, faith, and culture by Eden Marsh
As being raised Catholic, going to church every Sunday, getting sacraments and so much more time and even going to Catholic school for 8 years I learned a lot of things about Jesus that I had never heard about.
Love the sections about the young life of Jesus. The jobs others had: carpenter where they also fixed tools, joining beams and threshold cracks symbolizes healing, reconciliation and even spiritual renewal. Other trades that used hands and mind: farmers of land and vineyards for wine, fishermen, potters, weavers and some also had jobs as merchants, selling their products; seamstresses and wool tunics. They were so honored to be able to use their hands for the whole community and their families. Love hearing of barter system.
There are so many factors that mattered and influenced those in the day: historical context, 3 different empires that were present, ancestry, education, faith, science and cultural influences. Love hearing of the parables and how they were really storytelling but the points came across with just a bit of thought. So much more about Jesus teachings and his disciples.
Challenges and struggles, justice, law and so much more. Really fascinating read!
Like how the modern world plays a part in the art, music and other areas of entertainment. There are some notations from the Bible with the chapter and verses noted.
References are included at the end.

Somatic Therapy Workbook for Women: Release Trauma, Calm Your Nervous System, and Awaken Your Intuition—Because Your Body Already Knows How to Heal. (Anxiety solution 4) by Adele Payne
What I like about this book is that the format is just so easy. Understandable and you can actually do what they say in the way they say it.
Lots of introductory material about the science of trauma and how to get rid of it from your body.
The format for the exercises: time needed, find a comfy position, notice your breath, feel contact points, scan for tension (and how to do that), engage one sense (how to do that), and how to close the session and why this matters.
There are so many varied exercise sessions included depending on what you need help with.
Everything is totally explained. Love all the breathing techniques and when to use each
one. References are included.
Great book to keep handy.

Against All Odds: True Stories Of Champions Who Rose Through Adversity by Dylan Archer
Love this book because of what it contains. Lots of stories about champions and how they struggled to get over their issues and become of the famous and all around GOAT.
For each athlete there is a chapter having:  a title, color photo of them, a summary of their career, where it all began, place in history, what peers say, life lessons and another color photo.
That is not the whole story though. Towards the end they are also highlighted with:
Mindset moments, quote, power principle and stats are included. Each also are highlighted with key stats, performance metries,, beyond the game and against all odds. There are also places for you to keep your own notes.
NFL edition will be coming soon.
Great format.

Alaska Deadly by J. L. Askew
What an awesome read. There is something for everyone in this book: so many mysteries, shapeshifters, abductions, child trafficking, cult, and missing people all in the middle of Alaska.
Loved learning more about Alaska, the terrain, climate, scenery that is out of this world and the team effort of helping others who live there. So many twists and turns.
The PI is sent to Alaska to find a missing child. He has some clues but gets help from others in town who might know of the tribe and it's events that take place at midnight...
The father of the child shows up and so do scientists who are there for their own reasons. One is studying wolves and I love learning about that aspect of this book.
Love how they are able to help a plane land, collect the passengers get on board and take off again while being shot at. What strategy, so crazy it works!
Love hearing about the fire pit and how it has a secret there.
There is so much to this story, easy to keep everybody straight and learning about the people that live there. Grand finale, well one of them is the house with moveable walls.
Can't wait to read from this author. Super descritpvive I felt I was there and could feel what they were feeling, the smells, sounds and the sights.

The Debra Tucker story
Story starts out with Debra, how she grew up and how her life went further as she got older. Story also follows Derek, her husband, at one time. They end up in counseling to  strengthen their marriage.  With descriptions detailed and the thoughts running through their minds this would make a great movie or series.  There are outside things going on, pregnancies, one returning from jail, another family, etc
Like the ending a lot, never saw it going as such.
Swearing and adult situations. Enjoyed learning about all the different types of relationships.

3D Printers A Beginner's Guide by Oliver Bothmann Fox Chapel Publishing
This is a very useful book. Like how the author tackles the complexity of these printers.
Wish the two FDM and SLA would've been separated but together they are manageable.
So easy to understand and follow along in determining what type to get, why and how to set it up when you get it. How to prepare the filament is perfect and like the discussions about the xtruder.  Every stey pf the way is explained and makes me confident that when I visit our grandson I can even help him out. Love sites that are listed as to the patterns you can obtain with the code already written. So useful. Like that they did not use harmful things or mention them in the book.
Book contains MANY high glossy photos of pieces made and other details.
A book to keep on the shelves, handy.
Received this review copy from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

The Ultimate Guide to Emotional Intelligence: A Step-by-Step Approach to Master Self-Awareness, Build Meaningful Relationships & Thrive in Your Personal and Professional Life with Proven Strategies by Maria Kovar
Like this book because it can you teach you things about yourself that will matter.
Quotes are listed throughout the book.
What I like about his book is the author tells you things that happened to them or others they know and how they were able to achieve the outcome of good thoughts.  Active listen and speak, with thought to what you are saying.
Like the idea to first walk in anothers shoes as they go about their faily routine. Feel the different emotional parts they go through.
There are exercises to do throughout the book that are refreshing to say the least.
Love different ways of breathing, hadn't thought about it much in yoga but there are some new ones for me to try. Explains how to the them and what you will achieve.  Love grounding techniques and how to use your senses.

21-Day Shadow Work Journey: A Step-by-Step Guide to Uncover Hidden Blocks, Break Free From Limiting Patterns, and Rewire Your Brain to Thrive by Tracy Kreiss
Brain science comes into play with this book. It's all explained. Your own self is discussed so you get an idea  of actions and reactions.  Emotional triggers and projection and recurring patterns are also important. There are so many lessons in this book. So thought provoking. Best part of this book for me was seeing the wheel of emotions. Never saw this before and it's so self explanatory.
There are places in the book to write down your responses to the questions asked.
Love the author's human side where he tells you about another and their problem and how they are able to solve the why's and move forward.  Very touching and compassionate.
Quotes are also included at the start of chapters. Lots about triggers but also  how to overcome them.
Like checkmark list from social interactions and belonging. So many to check off.
Steps to take: set your intention, take action, reflect and outcome.  So much to learn about and understand. At times things are so intense that I don't follow along til I read the next section where it's more personalized by a true story.
Bonus ebook is offered at the end. Resources are listed at the end.

The Love Plot by Elle Douglas
Elodie  is on leave from teaching at the college.  She has a planned trip to the forest with her two students. Love how everyone has their job and knows how to do it.
Love learning about the new birds I had never heard of.
Book is set in Canada and although it's not far from the US some of the birds/animals are a bit different. Elodie  also has thoughts of dying and even visited a therapist to help her through it.
Story also follows Kendra will also be camping with them. She is a best selling author and has no clue how to make book #2 be the dame but different than the first one. She thought a change of location would help. She has no idea about camping nor anything about it, never mind the forest but she plans to take a lot of notes. Super up to date: microplastics!
Women are physically attracted to each other, in their own way.
Love learning about fire restoration procedures. Open fire food while camping, nothing better.

Each ailment has targeted tips. There are some very technical terms also.
Love use of herbs and spices to help.  Lots of references are listed at the end. Great book to figure out whats going on in your body.

There are pages where you can make your own goals and to take things a bit at a time. There are sections about 7 different parts of your bodies that really need attention now that you are older and how to achieve that.

Even sections on nutrition and there are many charts throughout that show your age level and how many of each you should be doing. Don't want to overdo things ether.

SAINTS WHO CHANGED THE WORLD : TRUE STORIES OF COURAGE, FAITH, AND LASTING IMPACT by Eden Marsh
Introductory material about what a saint is and how they become one, etc.
Saints are listed together because of their attribute.
At the saints name it talks of their life in years and so many start off in very low centuries, medieval times. Read about St. Gregory and was astonished to learn of what he had done while he was alive. Feeding and caring for those with no money or low in status. He trained his followers to tend to them and then to lead them to believe in faith. How they were drawn to religion and where they lived, usually with the poor or lower class.  All the saints share so much of themselves to help others. So many worthwhile stories to share among the family when it's reading time, pass the book along so everybody gets a turn to read aloud about one saint a night.
Glad the book also included popes because of all the work they do/did in their lifetimes.  References are included and also websites to visit to learn more.
Great entertainment.

References are included at the end.
Great fun educational book.

Book Review: Bonsai Basics: No Complications, No Guesswork: The Step-by-Step Guide to The Ancient Asian Art of Transforming Miniature Trees into Living Masterpieces by John Willard

Bonsai Basics: No Complications, No Guesswork: The Step-by-Step Guide to The Ancient Asian Art of Transforming Miniature Trees into Living Masterpieces by John Willard
This book start out with introductory material and what to expect from the book.
There are myths that it will cost too much or be so expensive you can't take care of it, time consuming, etc but they are all wrong.
Love how they tell you to get started and how to pick out an easy tree to grow yourself at home. There are so many varieties and the options they come with will explain how to tend to them and if they are for beginners.
Book follows the whole life of the tree in how to care for it, so don't think you need yet another book. References are included.
Great book!

Book Review: SAINTS WHO CHANGED THE WORLD : TRUE STORIES OF COURAGE, FAITH, AND LASTING IMPACT by Eden Marsh

In this book the children, Emma and OScar are waiting for their grandmother to arrive. Part I love the best is after making cookies and they don't come out perfect grandmas tells them about how god made us perfect but don't throw away the cookies that are not perfect. There are Bible sections quoted throughout the book. Great story to share with your grandparents.

Book Review: 7 Simple Steps to Keep Moving and Stay Active After 60 : A No-Stress Guide to Moving Better, Feeling Younger, and Loving Life Again by Ottie Oz

7 Simple Steps to Keep Moving and Stay Active After 60 : A No-Stress Guide to Moving Better, Feeling Younger, and Loving Life Again by Ottie Oz
Like this book for the new exercises that I plan to incorporate into my regular regimen.  There is a bit of introductory material telling you how to use the book as a guide in your goals. There are pages where you can make your own goals and to take things a bit at a time. There are sections about 7 different parts of your bodies that really need attention now that you are older and how to achieve that.
Love the pictured  poses of the exercise being done and how to do them. They start out very easy and can be done while watching tv or listening to a book. As you progress your goals should also do the same, using more difficult movements.  At 70 we are still doing strength exercises, walk 3 miles a day and so much more with stretching and cooling down. Even sections on nutrition and there are many charts throughout that show your age level and how many of each you should be doing. Don't want to overdo things ether.
References are included at the end.
Great book to keep handy.

Book Review: The Many Faces of Jesus by Eden Marsh

Book Review: 21-Day Shadow Work Journey: A Step-by-Step Guide to Uncover Hidden Blocks, Break Free From Limiting Patterns, and Rewire Your Brain to Thrive by Tracy Kreiss

Book Review: Against All Odds: True Stories Of Champions Who Rose Through Adversity by Dylan Archer

LIVING TRUSTS FOR A SECURE FUTURE: HOW TO PROTECT AND MANAGE YOUR ESTATE WITH CONFIDENCE by Daniel Powers
This book is so very informative. It has discussions and explanations about the differences between living trusts and how you can pick out the one for your circumstances. There are many human stories about a certain couple is faced with and their choice.
The book also explains about other important financial and health derivatives and what you need to know about them and choose the right one for you.
Touches on probate court, taxes, when you are incapacitated and lists tools and resources out there.
